Samsung Galaxy S21 FE eSIM

Hi all,

I've gone on a bit of a roundabout with this today. Bought my S21 FE back in Jan with the idea that it had eSIM support - was told in store and confirmed on the three.ie website.

Went to Canada in the middle of June, and when I went to load up an eSIM, an error saying that my device wasn't compatible came up, which fairly messed me over. Looked it up online, and there's conflicting info. Lots of different people saying that the FE versions don't work with eSIM.

Hopped on the phone to 3 support today, and was told that the phone does have eSIM but they don't support it, and to call Samsung. Had two separate chats with Samsung who confirmed that the device is marked as eSIM compatible, but when we did troubleshooting, my device didn't have any of the options they were telling me to select. They then told me that my network provider (3) would have to activate it on their end.

Anyone come across this issue before? It's doing my head in, and was one of the main reasons I bought the phone.

Notice at the bottom of Samsung devices it says

"The following Samsung Galaxy devices DO NOT have eSIM capability:
         •    All Galaxy FE “Fan Edition” models.

I've linked in with our devices team on this and they have confirmed that the Samsung S21FE is as you said not eSim capable.

Hi @Redhairedguy because of the confusion I looked for confirmation on the Samsung website. On their website, if you click here you'll see the S21FE is not part of their range, which supports eSim.

Ah, I think I spotted this page before and was confused because it specifically didn't say that the S21 FE wasn't compatible; seems like it was more that it omitted it as compatible. Okay. So that's pretty much 100% confirmation that the Samsung S21 FE doesn't work with eSIM. Thanks again for the clarification.

Hey Stacey, I see that that website is aimed towards Australian devices. 

"Please Note: This guide is designed for Australian variant Galaxy devices, settings and steps available may vary. If you have an international device and require further support click here to get in touch with your Samung subsidiary."

Found the same info on the Irish website.
