Using emojis

I noticed that when I send a text and include any emojis, the first emoji takes 92 characters, but if I add more emojis they seem to take only 2 characters each. I don't understand why this happens. I have exceeded the 160 character limit due to this without realising it and ended up being charged for several extra texts with seemingly short messages.

It all depends on the phone really. Like some phones make emoji's MMS so they are even more expensive. When I try to send one though I get a message that tells me it may change the text and to select okay to continue. As far as I know all phones do this. Whatsapp or Messenger is the way to go for all the emojis business!
