Xperia Z3 network problem.

Hi,

I have just got the xperia z3 phone but am unable to pick up a network at all, I have tried selecting network manually but it doesnt pick up a network either. As part of the phone i had to get a nano sim card so i'm guessing that this card may need to be registered to get a network. Would i be correct in saying this? Any help is appreciated.
