For everyones information - apparantly, letting customers know directly - through text message and not just directing them to a link that the out of data allowance price was increaing by 1600% "would have been too much information for a text message".........

I had the same issue. I tried many platforms to contact them to sort it out. Finally I spoke to a supervisor on the phone. In the end I:
Got all charges refunded
Got out of my contract without penalty.
Keep going with it, it is an overcharge if they are telling you one thing online and billing you another
