Hi All.
I bought the new Huawei 5G CPE Pro 2 router with the intention to use it in my house with 5G network.
According to the websit and the store, the area I live in has full 5G coverage, however my modem does not show any 5G signal, only 4G.
I tried twice to solve the problem with the instant messaging customer service, but without any luck.
In the last session yesterday night, the Three agent told me to change the Mobile Network Searching of my modem from "Auto" to "Manual", however this is not possible in my modem. Below there is a snipshot of what is shown on my modem.
As you can see, "Preferred Network Mode" and "Network Search Mode" are both set to Auto and cannot be modified.
The agent found this strange and told me to check in some other device. I did (I tried iPhone, iPad, my work laptop). I also tried with other browsers (Safari, Chrome, Edge, Internet Explorer), with no differende.
Finally the Three representative told me to try a new sim card, which I ordered and I'm awaiting delivery.
In the meanwhile, can someone explain what is happening? Is the network search dependant from the sim card?
Thanks.
I'm trying to talk to the online help and they keep telling me to change the network search to manual. I keep telling them that, for some reason, it's not possible in my modem. I guess that this is a feature is disabled in modem sold by Three.
Now, the only explanation I have is that Three is advertising 5G coverage in our area even though there is no real coverage.
Do I have other chances other than returning the modem and closing the contract?
I've been through the setting with them several times too. You are correct, there is no way to change any of the mobile network related setting on this router.
I though like you that they were advertising coverage in my area when none really existed. To eliminate this as the issue I took the router to two other locations that their map showed was in the middle of their 5g coverage area and turned it on but still no 5g signal.
Thanks for advise Bren.
I'll go talk to the store saturady to see if they can do something.
This is a firmware issue with the pro 2
You can try searching manually for three 4g network and then register on it that way the router will stay on 5g a bit longer but it will still drop the 5g connection usually within few hours.only firmware update would fix this
I am going through similar issues - i tried my existing sim in a 5G capable phone and was able to receive 5G. No dice with the ZTE MC7010 outside antenna
I have the zte mc7010 outside modem it has exactly the same issue with Three firmware on it.the unit works fine with stock chinese firmware or with other carrier firmwares in countrys like Finland,Poland ect.if you will check your firmware on that unit you will see that you are on v1 firmware.Carriers in Finland for instance have released v2 b04 then v2 b07 and then v2 b10 firmware that fixes the units instability and the switching, searching between 4g and 5g.
Do you mind letting me know what firmware are you on?
