Using a third party switch and WiFi AP's instead of T3000?

Hello,

I am not super impressed with the ZTE T3000 indoor router. It also often loses signal and I have to restart it multiple times a day, which is a nightmare. Sometimes I have to restart the outdoor ZTE router as well(but that's due to another issue).

It's also quite annoying that I can't use my own SSID's and IP range due to the router acting up and customer support asking me to reset the router, meaning I always back to default settings. And it's not fun when you have WiFi IoT devices. So, I'd like to have my independent network and don't rely on ZTE T3000 router.

Apart from losing support, are there any drawbacks or limits(such as MAC lockins or some other obscure network settings) that would prevent me from using a switch?

I was thinking to buy something like TP-Link TL-SG2210MP JetStream and for APs something like TP-Link AP AX3000 EAP650-Wall. That should do the trick, right?

Hi @alex_reds thank you for reaching out to us here on 3Community.

The device you have linked is not one we sell, so I can't provide any feedback or assist with any troubleshooting should any issue arise.

When you contacted customer care did the raise and investigation for you? If you have the reference number I'd be happy to check on the status for you.

They did. The usual, turn it off, wait 10 mins, then turn it on, reset to the factory settings, then dance around and pray to the gods. That didn't help  They referred me to s separate technical department. They were investigating the thing for two-three weeks then rang me and asked me if anything changed, I said no, the connection still drops once or twice a day. And my speeds barely reach 15/30mpbs. They said, well nothing we can do, tough luck.

In the last few days, I had to restart both routers probably 20 times. it's excruciating.

I don't have any reference numbers. where do I get it?

If you don't have the reference number that's ok @alex_reds, I'll be able to get it from your account.

Please PM me your name, number, full address and date of birth and I'll review your account and see what our next steps will be.
