Landline Call Answering/Voicemail Service
- Call Answering allows callers to leave a message when the customer is not available to take the call.
- Customers can use the standard system greeting or record a personalised greeting.
- The greeting can be a maximum of one minute long. As many as 20 one-minute messages can be stored on the system at any time.
- Messages can be saved for a further 7 days after being listened to.
- Calling Answering monthly cost = €1.24. There is no charge to add this service.
To record a personal greeting:
- Dial 171.
- If the mailbox has not yet been enabled on your line, you will be asked to enter your mailbox number.
- If these services have been enabled on your line, you will be asked to enter your temporary password.
- When asked, enter the following temporary password 1234.
- You will be requested to choose a private password (this cannot start with 0). Once entered, press #.
- Follow the spoken prompts to record your business name/own name and welcome greeting.
To check for new messages:
- A message waiting indicator will tell you if you have a new message in your mailbox.
- Lift your receiver.
- A broken dial tone means you have new messages.
- To listen to your messages, key in your password.
To listen to your messages:
- Lift your receiver and key in 171.
- When asked, enter your password, followed by #.
- Follow the spoken prompts.
Listening to your messages from your home/business phone is free.
Listen to your messages from another phone/location:
- Dial your own landline number and allow the call to go to answering machine.
- Interrupt the greeting by pressing # and enter your password, followed by #. The default password is 1234.
- Checking your messages from another phone is charged at standard rates.
To change your greeting:
- Lift receiver and dial 171.
- When asked, enter your password and go to the main menu.
- Press 4 for personal options.
- To go to the greeting, press 3.
- Follow the spoken prompts.
To change the number of rings:
- Three mailbox is automatically set up so that all calls will ring for 20 seconds (7 rings) before transferring to your voicemail.
- To change this, just lift your receiver and press *62*, followed by the number of seconds you want calls to ring, followed by the # key.
- For example, to set up Three mailbox to answer your calls after 5 seconds (2 rings), press *62* 5 #.
- You cannot set your phone to ring for more than 25 seconds (10 rings), or for less then 5 seconds (2 rings).
Helpful short-cut keys:
- Press # to skip to the next message.
- Press 4 to replay a message.
- Press 5 to hear the time and date that a message was left.
- Press 0 for help.
To enable voicemail on your number:
- If you are a Three customer: Call 1913.
- If you are a Three Business customer: Call Three Technical Service Desk on 1800-800-002 and press option 1.
