Login to Three iPhone app with Apple ID has stopped working

Three's iPhone app is easy to log into, because it accepts Apple ID, negating the need to enter a username and password.

 

However, this useful functionality has recently stopped working. The app forcibly logged everyone out, and when you tap on the Apple logo to log in with Apple ID, it takes you to Safari as usual to log in with Apple ID, which succeeds, but then it takes you back to the initial login screen in the Three app. This is not a problem with the Apple ID, because this new bug affects multiple users and the same Apple IDs work fine when logging into other apps. Deleting and reinstalling the Three app doesn't solve it.

Hi @NFH our update for IOS users is being processed in batches over the next 6 days. All IOS users will have received the update by next week. Please let me know if you're still having difficulty after the update has been completed.

Even after an app update last night, the symptoms are the same.

 

I also notice that the non-seamless procedure of using Apple ID to log in via the web site similarly fails with an unknown error. So this is not specific to the iPhone app, but a wider issue.
