I was recently enquiring about my upgrade as the option had disappeared off my account and I was just curious as my current phone is having issues with the screen, charging port and storage and I wanted to see how long I had to wait
I was concerned as the phone I was looking to upgrade to appeared to be going out of stock so I just mentioned this to an agent and they mentioned a steel upgrade, I’m not sure what this is or what it will do to my account and I can’t find any information, does anyone know what this is or how it’ll affect my contract? Thank you
@Add_11572 Hi there, a Steel upgrade is an upgrade that our customers that are currently in contract can still do. By doing a steel upgrade the new device you pick is put onto your account and your contract continues as normal without any change to it.
For example, if you were in contract until October of 2023, if you did a steel upgrade to an iPhone 13. The new iPhone would show as your contract phone but your contract end date will still be October of 2023.
When is your current contract due to end & I can check when your upgrade window will be open. What phone are you looking at that's out of stock I can check when it's due to come back in.
Hi, my contract is due to end in October so the upgrade is the 30th of July, I am looking at the iPhone 14 pro max in purple 256gb but in the last couple weeks the 128gb sold out and it’s completely sold out in silver so it has me concerned as July is quite a way away and with the issues I’m experiencing with my current phone I can’t justify sending for repair if the upgrade is due this year and with it going into summer time with events and holidays it would be nice to have that extra storage as I’m constantly struggling with the storage on this current phone
I am not sure if the steel upgrade will change my account at all? There has to be something that’s different to a normal upgrade apart from the contract renewal, would I have to go and sort out my contract renewal in October if I had a steel upgrade and is there more of a charge for this option? Apologies for all the questions just never heard of it before and would like to know if it’s a good option
I've checked on the stock levels & we do have quite a few in stock for the iPhone 14 Pro Max 256GB Purple. The iPhone 14 Pro 128GB Silver is not likely to be back in stock but we do have the iPhone 14 Pro 128GB Black in stock.
Doing the Steel upgrade won't affect your contract end date or your upgrade window. The difference between a regular upgrade & a Steel is that the Steel can only be done while in a contract. With the Steel upgrade, I can't advise on the cost as it's only offered in-store so the store agent will be able to notify you of the price.
Thank you for the information, I’ll have to look into this as if I can I’d like to get my hands on that specific phone, if I can do that sooner while staying in contract that would be ideal as I love the service provided by Three and I’ve never had any issues
Thank you so much for the information, you have been most helpful
