So I'm nearly eligible for an upgrade in a few days, but I decided not to upgrade or get a new phone. What happens now? My contract will end 3 months from my upgrade eligibility period, will I still be paying the same amount until the contract is finished or I could lower my bill instead of upgrading?
I would suggest waiting until your contract ends before giving your month's notice the reason being if you do it while still in contract once the month is up your account will be closed & it'll have to be re-activated.
The month's notice is if you're looking for your account to be closed including moving to another network. You'll need to wait until your contract is finished & on the date it is, you can call our care team on freephone 1913 they'll put the 30-day notice on the account. Once the notice is on the account you can then contact your new provider to get your number moved over.
@Blitz Hi there, once your contract is over your bill will remain the same until you decide what your next step will be. You have 2 options to consider:
1st - You can stay as you are on your current plan with no contract and work away using your service as normal.
2nd - You can change to a SIMO plan you can check them out here. These are non-device plans so you can change to them until you feel like re-contracting and can be switched back to a contract plan.
Let me know if you have any questions 😊
Ok, so SIMO is the sim only plan which I guess I won't be getting a new device and still has eat all you can data but what is the benefit of staying with my current plan if I'm not upgrading or getting a new device?
Also, again, I'm eligible for an upgrade in 3 days, and I don't want to upgrade. What are my other options or should I wait until my contract is finished?
@Blitz Once you're out of contract if you're not upgrading then it's your decision whether you wish to stay on your current plan or not. I would suggest switching to the SIMO so you can save a bit on the bills while you decide whether you want to upgrade in the future.
If you don't wish to upgrade when you're eligible that's fine but you still have 3 months left on your contract so you'll have to finish it out.
That's great! Thank you Shane. I have another question as well. If I'm going to cancel my contract, then I should inform you 1 month before it expires right? And if I want my old number, should I inform in example Eir or Vodafone to port my number before my contract expires??
