More expensive for existing customers?

Why is it more expensive to upgrade a phone for long term bill pay customers than new customers? Surely it should be cheaper if anything. By that logic it's better to switch to a new network and get their new customer deal

Agree, with this total rip off, and terrible way to treat loyal customers. I looked at a iphone 16 and I would ahve to pay 60euro more than a new customer for a pay as you go. So even after paying almost 900 euro, id get ripped off for an additional 60 to pay 960 versus the 880 for a new customer.
