Hi everyone,
I’m seeking advice, my €25 euro pre pay plan roaming does not work in New York in the USA. I’m relying on WiFi for all internet connectivity on my iPhone, WhatsApp, iMessage, Apple Pay, Banking Apps, Maps, Social Media,
I’ve added a 2 day roaming add on to my account free of charge but that isn’t working either.
I even topped up by €25 outside of my plan and that hasn’t fixed the issue either.
My phone is a Apple iPhone 16 pro.
Mobile data is on
Roaming is on
Carrier in the U.S. is T-Mobile
I’ve turned my phone on and off but that hasn’t worked.
Any advice or help is greatly appreciated,
Thanks,
Frankie
Hi there @Frankie_69539, are you still experiencing difficulties? If you are I'd love to help but so please answer the below questions as this will help me to see what steps we need to take.
Have you switched on your international roaming in your phone settings?
When you're connected to T-Mobile are you getting any coverage bars or data indicators?
Are you receiving any errors when you try to connect?
Hi Stacey,
Thank you for your message.
Yes, I’m still experiencing difficulties unfortunately.
I have switched on Data Roaming on my iPhone. I even put a 2 day free roaming add-on to my account. I didn’t notify 3 I was travelling to the United States though. I wonder is that the issue?
I have 3 coverage bars, 5G and T-Mobile as the carrier but still unable to make calls or connect to the internet.
I am receiving errors however when I attempt to use WhatsApp it’s just saying “connecting”, when I try to send an iMessage it won’t send and when attempting to use Maps the screen won’t load at all.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
Frankie
Thanks for the update, did your phone automatically select T-Mobile or did you manually select it? As you're not connecting correctly, please go into your settings - Mobile Services - Network Selection. In Network Selection please switch off Automatic and allow the phone to search. Once your phone has found network options available please try to select the networks and see if you can connect.
Thanks Stacey.
I have tried this and I can connect to T-Mobile and Verizon, both are showing 3 bars and 5G however WhatsApp is still “connecting” when I turn off WiFi and rely on the mobile networks indicating the phone has not connected to the networks.
As you're not connecting to the 5G have you tried to connect to 4G? You'll find this in Settings - Mobile Services - Mobile Data Options. If you haven't tried this please do and let me know how you get on.
