Good day. I am on a prepaid plan with Three and usually top up with the €20 voucher monthly. I want to know if this plan will cover me for receiving an sms from my bank to confirm that it is me using my bank card while I travel to South Africa. If this plan does not cover me, please let me know how I can purchase relevant prepaid airtime to cover the costs of sms on roaming in South Africa.
Hi @Lenteli_22998 welcome to 3Community. Most plans roaming allowance is for use in the EU, so unfortunately it won't cover roaming in South Africa. We do have roaming add-ons which cover South Africa so I'd suggest logging into your M3 account and scrolling down the screen till you see 'Explore Add Ons' this will show which add ons compatible with your plan.
If you run into any difficulties let me know.
Thanks Stacey, but this does not answer my question. I specifically need airtime so that I can receive an sms while not in Ireland or the EU. My bank will send me an sms if I use my card in South Africa to confirm that it is me who is using the card. The add on roaming option will only provide me with data, not sms. So, I need to buy airtime to pay for an sms
@Lenteli_22998 receiving text messages while roaming in South Africa is free. If your bank is anything like mine, they will notify you and request you to confirm the payment through your banking App for which you'll need to data so I would recommend contacting your bank to confirm how they may attempt to contact you.
