I received 2 text messages on Thursday at 09:54 & 12:03 saying that my Daypass has been activated. I have been charged twice for a service I am not using and credit taken from me. Today, Sunday 16th October Three send me a text saying my balance is low. Well, WOW!! I wonder why that is, why Euro4 was deducted from my account for a service I don't use. I use my phone via home WiFi and for receiving/taking calls/text messages.
This is the second or third time that I have had to deal with Three and their greed. My balance is now €0.01. Will Three Ireland credit me €4??? Are Three knowledgeable with consumer rights and laws in Ireland? Perhaps they should familiarize themselves with it!
I will be contacting them tomorrow because this has become an absolute nuisance, it's greed and price gouging.
My plan is 3 Essential.
@Dylan_07363 HI Dylan, to help prevent any further charges the first thing to do is:
Make sure that any apps you have downloaded don't 'Allow background data usage', this option can allow apps to still work even if they're not actively being used by you.
You can also turn off mobile data in the settings of your phone & as you've said you use WiFi to make sure that the WiFi + or assist (its name varies slightly depending on the phone manufacturer) is not turned on as this will use mobile data alongside your WiFi.
I can put a data block on your account & this will also stop the charge but this also means you would have to contact us back if you wanted it turned on again. Also just to note, if you do block it wifi will still work.
The last option I have is can change your plan for you if you're interested. This would stop the charges as our newer plans come with All You Can Eat data. Most of our legacy plans including our 3Essential plan have a limited amount of data allowance or not at all. The €2 Daily Pass is triggered by a data connection no matter how small. The daily pass was put in place years ago to prevent further charging. The pass has 200MB for €2, which was a great price back in the day before we introduced our All You Can Eat Plans. Without it, the cost is €1.01 per MB.
If you're interested in getting the block added or changing your plan pop me a PM with your full name, address, date of birth & phone number & I'll get this sorted right away for you.
Allow background data usage is deactivated/and individual apps have this switched off. Mobile data is always off on the phone. I never use public WiFi (home only) and I don't use Three network for internet usage. I don't top up often, so what's the best plan without losing out on credit?
@Dylan_07363 Hi Dylan, check out our list of plans here. If you want to avoid getting the day pass any of these plans would be suitable. If you have any questions about the plans let me know.
