I have bought a phone off the DoneDeal site & was working with my new Three sim for the last two months. The phone has now been made redundant due to it having been blacklisted which would have occurred for non payment of a bill or fraudulent insurance claim by what would appear to be the previous owner of this new phone. I don't believe I should have to be out of pocket for a phone that cost me a considerable amount of money & that I would ask that Three can assist me on this matter.
@Karl_04139 this is a very unfortunate matter and happens from time to time when buying from a 3rd party. The only person who can white-list the phone is the previous owner. I'd recommend contact the person you bought the phone from. Hopefully they are the previous owner and will contact us to whitelist the phone.
@Three_Deborah Can you please provide me with an email/contact number for the fraud division as I have paid a considerable amount for this phone & have also signed up for a three plan. I need this matter resolved as soon as possible as I require this handset for work. Thanks in advance.
Karl_04139 I understand your point of view here, and would like to ask have you contacted the seller/previous owner of the phone? Once the owner contacts us, we will gladly whitelist the phone. If you believe there is fraud involved here , the correct path to follow is to report this to the Guards. Have you had time to do this?
@Three_Deborah I would greatly appreciate if Three Ireland would refrain from stating the obvious.. Of course I have attempted to reach out to the individual that sold me the phone knowing what they were doing.. She is unreachable.. This is a very flawed system that hard working, honest individuals should have to pay the price for the behaviour of other corrupt individuals. I am not standing for it & expect that someone within Three Ireland finds a resolution for this matter. I am not purchasing another phone.
We buy items from 3rd parties in good faith and expect honest transactions. But there are instances where people unknowingly buy something that was lost or stolen. I'm sorry that you are in this situation Karl and this is extremely unfortunate.
As mentioned earlier, you'd need to report to the Gardai and get a pulse number from them. Forgive me if I'm stating the obvious, as it wasn't mentioned earlier, but I'd suggest that you also report the seller to DoneDeal.
The main reason a phone is blacklisted is because it's been reported lost or stolen and if the phone you bought falls into this category and we can't whitelist it without the owners permission. This process is in place to protect the owner of the phone. Let's say it was blacklisted for other reasons, again Three needs the permission of the owner to whitelist it.
While I'd love to help you, I can't whitelist the phone unless the owner ( the person with the contract and proof of ownership) contacts us. I'm so sorry but there is nothing I can do!
Hi,
I just experienced the same problem. I bought a phone on Adverts it was brand new sealed in the box. I checked the IMEI number on the apple website and everything checked out fine. 2 weeks into using the phone it stopped showing any range and I am unable to receive or make any calls. I went to the three shop and they asked me to contact three support. I have a photo of the person who sold me the phone and I have details on where and when the exchange of cash for the phone was done and there was CCTV there. How would I go about trying to whitelist the phone. Please let me know as I was totally unaware someone could scam like this? Thanks Bino

Please let me know as I was totally unaware someone could scam like this and I would have genuinely never bought the phone if I had known this could happen. Please suggest what I could do. Thanks Bino
@B1nofficial Hi Bino, as Deborah mentioned above unless the person who previously bought the phone contacts us we would be unable to whitelist it. The only suggestion I can make would be to reach out to the Gardai & make a report.
I can see that you also posted your question to our Idea's Board so I have moved the post to this thread as this is a more relevant section for your query.
