Keeping Irish phone number when living in Australia

Hi all ,

I am currently on 30 day SIMO Bill pay. I've moved to Oz for the next 2 years. I want to keep my existing number active. What is the best option? Is it to switch to a prepay plan from bill pay? Any answer would be greatly appreciated

My best guess would to switch to a Prepay Plan on your Irish number, if you’re not actively using it to call and text. Pick the cheap calls only plan that will keep your number active and able to receive calls and texts, you can use your Australian phone number for everything else then.

Hope this helps!

Hey @Add_28725, thanks for your post and thanks to @J-Phelan24 for the advice.

So you have two options. You can stay on the SIM only plan and you will be charged the monthly amount each month and this will keep the number active.

Alternatively you can follow the advice from @J-Phelan24 and move to prepay and you can view these plans here Prepay Phone Plans. When you move to prepay you will need to Top up every 6 months and then make a chargeable call to keep the number active and to stop it going dormant however I recommend setting a reminder in your phone if you decide to chose this option. To move to prepay you will need to speak to our web messaging team.
