AENO R3CS Robot Vacuum Review

Not having used a robot vacuum cleaner before I was very interested in trying out the Aeno RC3S ( but my dog was less inclined)

In the box you get

  • The Aeno RC3S
  • 1 x HEPA 12 filter (with 1 Spare)
  • 2 Side Brushes (with 1 Spare set)
  • 600ml dust only collection cartridge
  • Water and dust collection cartridge (with Spare cloth)
  • The charging dock and its power supply
  • The Manual & warranty card
  • A tool to clean the robot vacuum

The robot vacuum feels quite sturdy as it weighs in at 2.7 kg with dimensions of 330 х 96 х 330 mm.
Setting up was very easy. I just had to remove the protective travel pads from the front of the robot vacuum where a lot of the sensors are , slide in the cartridge and add the two side brushes then connect the dock to the power supply and place the robot vacuum on the charging dock.

I left it to charge overnight ( the recommended initial charge time is 6.5 hours) to charge the 3000mAh battery.
The robot vacuum cleaner is rated for up to 130 min of cleaning and 5 hours charge should be enough to clean an area up to 150 m²

Then I just had to press the power button on the top of the robot vacuum and off it went, you get voice prompts when the robot vacuum starts an action or you press a button on it i.e. “Returning to base” the volume level and language can be configured via the app.
There are other buttons for getting the robot vacuum to return to its base and also to connect to wifi.

In its initial run it maps out the area using its LiDar and creates a map of the area/rooms, it had no problem going under my couch (which was 130 mm high)
The robot vacuum cleaner has a High step overcoming - 18 mm and it had no problem in my house.
It was able to vacuum on a large mat, wooden floor and tiles in my house and it picked up any debris it found.

To remove the dust cartridge from the robot vacuum cleaner it was very easy with the spring loaded button on the robot vacuum cleaner.

Then you just open the cartridge and empty it into your dustbin.

The 2500Pa suction pressure from the Nidec motor does an excellent job of picking up dirt and particles.

The Hepa filter in the cartridge.

For mopping you can see the amount of water that you fill and you can get up to 150 m² wet cleaning without water refill.

There is a 350 ml water tank capacity and also there is space at the front of the cartridge to collect debris.
Via the app you can control how much water is delivered via the mop.
The robot vacuum cleaner automatically knows that you wish to mop once the mopping cartridge is added.

Next I downloaded the Aeno app
AENO - Apps on Google Play
AENO on the App Store
Setting up the app was very easy, I just had to create an account and add the device to the app and follow the instructions via the app.

Like most devices it only connects to 2.4Ghz Wifi networks

The Aeno app has lots of really useful features to allow you to tweak the robot vacuum cleaner for your own needs and it's very good that there was an update available for the robot vacuum cleaner initially.

billbond4_5-1711531499434.png

In the above screenshot the white lines are the tracks that the robot vacuum has taken over its route, the blue dot is its current position.

Auto - The robot vacuum cleaner will clean all of the area it can and return to its base.

Pin and go - Tell the robot vacuum cleaner to clean a specific spot and return to its base.

Room - The robot vacuum cleaner will clean a specific room.

Zoned - Create a specific zone and define how many times you want the robot vacuum  to clean it.

To Base - The robot vacuum will return to its charging dock.

In the Restricted Area there is an excellent feature of the app is its ability to allow you to create virtual walls or to create Restricted areas, so if you have a rug you can easily create a restricted area which the robot vacuum will not go over when the mop accessory is attached to it, or if you have a loose mat that the robot vacuum would get stuck on you can create a restricted area for that.
You also have the option if you have an open space you could create a Virtual Wall so that the robot vacuum cleaner will not cross it.

billbond4_8-1711531543349.png

From the Configure Maps setting you can also further configure it so that it can start to clean in one room before another i.e in the above picture it's docked in the Sitting room, but you can change the sequence so that it cleans the Kitchen first.
You can also rename the rooms and join/split/merge them.

billbond4_9-1711531565809.png

Under Custom Settings it allows you to configure how a room is cleaned i.e in a hallway you can set the vacuum power to be a higher setting than in the Sitting Room or how many times you want it cleaned in a session.

billbond4_10-1711531583701.pngbillbond4_11-1711531590004.png

There are plenty of configuration options available in the settings menu like the
Cleaning schedule where you can create your own scenarios by adjusting the frequency of cleaning and the time of day the robot vacuum cleaner operates.
Mode allows your set your default power setting.
Consumables allows you to view the current level of brushes/filters

The Language and volume setting, so you can change the language and volume spoken by the robot vacuum cleaner.

And as the device is voice control compatible  I was able to control my Robot Vacuum via my Alexa
So when you change the device name, as I called my device Alfred I can say
“Alexa, turn on Alfred” and that will get the robot vacuum started without me even lifting a finger.

The above is a list of supported voice commands

If you always forget to vacuum those hard to reach places or you want to come home to a clean home the Aeno RC3S is definitely a device that makes your life easier.

Hey @billbond4, thanks for your review, we have a smart hoover for sale called the Anker Eufy RoboVac G30 Smart Hoover which is available here on our lifestyle store.

The AENO R3CS has more refined user configuration options via the AENO app liked restricted zones and virtual walls it also has the ability to mop and vacuum.

And it has stronger suction.
