How do I buy a new phone when I have a sim only contract?

Can you help me?

I have a sim only account with 3 so am not eligible for an upgrade.

I want to buy a new phone and keep my existing number but 3 shop does not recognise that I already have an account. It always wants me to select a new bill pay/pre-pay plan. it then tells me that i cannot keep my existing number when I input it on the Keep Number page.

My My3 account won't let me change my billing plan. If I try to buy a new phone through my My3 account it treats it as a new order and also says I cannot keep my existing number.

So, how does someone on sim only buy a new phone from 3 and keep their old number?

PS I am happy to change from sim only to billpay (3 Mini Flex Max) but my account won't let me do this.

You could just select the pre-pay phone

Select any plan

activate your plan later

and Dont transfer your number

I'm not sure I understand though.

If I buy a new phone and sign up for bill pay, 3 will treat it as a new phone with a new number.

Can I then change that new number back to my old number? How do I do that?

If you follow my steps you just dont use the sim card that you will get when you get the phone, use your existing sim card in the new phone.
