Smartwatch Mobile Connection Support

Hi, with the recent launch of eSim, it would be great to have Apple/Android smartwatch mobile connection support.

The world is not going to end if your smart watch doesn’t have its own cellular signal. Do you think three will care if you jump ship? You probably couldn’t even afford the cheapest Vodafone billpay that’s why ur with three.  Yous are whining like a bunch of entitled kids. The service will be provided. It’s not a matter of if, only when. And none of you pressuring Stacey is doing the process any good.

@Vernon_64092 it's good to check facts before writing. I bought the Apple Watch to leave my iPhone at home and create a clear separation between work and personal life. As the MD of a company with 20 staff, this partitioning is now pertinent for me as I'm on the wrong side of 50 and my GP advised I need to make adjustments to work/life balance. Good to know that my wife and I have been loyal Three customers since they launched in Ireland. Back then, we chose them as we like to support new competition, and pricing has remained very similar across providers and this remains the case today. Indeed, Vodafone would actually be less expensive for us as we already have Vodafone broadband and can bundle 2 mobiles+broadband in to a family plan and see cost savings (which I learned last week). For over a year, people have been asking about cellular support, which Three UK has had for a while (and Vodafone). It’s disappointing that Three Ireland hasn’t caught up yet. This issue isn't about money, far from it, it’s about fulfilling a genuine business need as well as a personal work-life balance need. I am confident Stacey is a good person.

@Add_10610 Well said. We’ve been told it’s coming for what will be a year next month I believe, meanwhile it’s elsewhere. Nobody said the world would end like the other person sniped, we just would think a year was time to deliver. Especially when you’ve been with a company for years (I’ve been with them since they came to Ireland in 2005) and it’s sad to think I may end up changing. And not moving to Vodafone isn’t about money, which is an absurd comment. 🙄

@Vernon_64092 ridiculous comment. We’re customers who are unhappy with the service. Why shouldn’t we tell the company?

@Add_10610 you write with an astounding air of privilege—something I really find hard to relate to. Also, I am worried that you rely on a watch to have work-life balance. Maybe try less screen time. It’s good money is not an issue for you like the most of us. Move to vodafone. Work-life balanced solved for only €19/month.

@Annette_16996 have you anything else going on in your life? Seems like you have wasted a year waiting for this to happen. It takes less than a day to switch to Vodafone.

@pelowj yes keep moaning about how unsatisfied customer you are and maybe three will finally listen, they all hate inconveniencing the likes of you.

If you all want to jump ship, you would have left three yesterday. Yet here you all are.

@Vernon_64092 your insight cuts through our misguided privilege like a €19/month Vodafone contract through a cloud of entitlement. You’re right, I should stop relying on modern technology to help balance work and life – instead, I’ll just time my day using the ancient art of sundials from now on. It’s what the truly grounded like yourself does I suppose.

As for the rest of us – @Annette_16996 and @pelowj  – I’m sure they’ll appreciate your wise counsel and expert guidance. Switching networks in less than a day? Revolutionary advice! Why waste time considering things like customer loyalty, customer longevity, customer service, or, heaven forbid, customer satisfaction? Clearly, we’ve all just been sitting here, gazing longingly at Vodafone’s €19 plans, hoping they’d one day come and rescue us from our collective misguided choices.

I do hope someday we can all achieve your level of enlightenment. But in the meantime, thank you for continuing to share with us with your pearls of wisdom – we’ll treasure them as much as your €19/month plan suggestion. And, thank you for reminding us that the true path to happiness and balance lies not in self-reflection or thoughtful decision-making, but in a quick switch to Vodafone. Who knew life could be so simple.....

@Add_10610 I will bet nineteen euros you don’t know how sun dials work, or never seen an actual one. 😊

I am almost also fairly certain you are not aware of the problems that are going to come your way when you leave your phone at home and rely on the watch.

When you get a hip replacement, you don’t ask the surgeon how long the operation will take—it doesn’t matter! You will be asleep. What matters is you wake up with a new hip.

You’re wasting everybody’s time asking when is this gonna happen. It is gonna happen when it is safe to implement. Giving you a lead time will just further your frustration and anxiety.

@Vernon_64092 what problems do you reckon we'll have with the watch? Keep in mind I've been using Apple Watch Cellular outside of Ireland for 5 odd years and it works in exactly the same way as it works when you're lugging your phone around.

Safe to implement? This has been out for 7 years. It took other networks weeks or months to implement back in 2018. I understand we had a bit of regulatory roadblock regarding eSIMs, but I would have expected Irish networks to be ready to roll the second that roadblock was lifted. Here we are 4 years or so after than was ironed out and the likes of Three are still dragging their heels. What makes it so unsafe in your expert opinion? Am I in danger when I'm using it abroad?

You're wasting everyone's time telling us we're wasting our time.

@Vernon_64092 what’s that you said? “have you anything else going on in your life? Seems like you have wasted a year waiting for this to happen.” 🤣🤣. Rich coming from a troll just being snarky on a customer service thread…..of customers looking for details. Sounds like it is you who has nothing better to do. Enjoy. 😘

@Annette_16996 @pelowj - well said. Well said. I propose the 3 of us stop engaging with this troll and continue to keep this thread professional for Three and the others as the 3 of us have tried to do. The individual's behaviour speaks for itself, I think best to ignore and move on.

@Three_Stacey - I manage a company with a pan-EU team of 20 PhDs, primarily conducting advanced research for the European Commission in IT, telecommunications (incl 5G & 6G), and other tech domains. Staying current with technology is also pertinent to our competitiveness. As Pelowj noted, it’s concerning that this tech has been out for years, yet Three hasn’t implemented it yet. This challenges confidence in long-term partnerships, particularly for those needing to stay competitive in Tech or current with the latest Technology. Perhaps it's simply the case that Vodafone is more suited to the business community, and Three to domestic users, and if so this is perfectly fine. I am more than happy to recommend Three to family/friends from my Wife's and my very positive experiences as domestic customer since Three opened in Ireland way back then. Thanks again for Three's support over the years, my wife and I will likely move to Vodafone soon and part on good terms with jolly good memories here.
