Free calls and texts from Ireland to Ukraine, and roaming in Ukraine is free until 7th July 2022!

At Three, we understand how important it is to stay connected with family and friends, and we are here to help in any way that we can. So, we have removed roaming charges anywhere in Ukraine, and we are waiving charges for those of you contacting loved ones in Ukraine from Ireland. We will be crediting back to your account charges incurred weekly. We are supporting both Bill Pay and Prepay customers from 25.02.22-07.07.22 inclusive.

Roaming: This is the use of your mobile (calls, text, and data) outside of the Republic of Ireland and using a different network. This term applies to our customers who are in Ukraine and our partner networks are: Kyivstar, and Lifecell. For more info and help about roaming, look over here All about: Roaming with Three.

Roaming Data charges: If you are using data in Ukraine, you may have received a text regarding a data cap (€50 ex. VAT). There are a couple of options, keep the data cap, effectively blocking further data use or opt out, meaning that you have removed this cap and can continue to use data. If you have chosen REMCAP – remove cap, this will reapply on your next billing cycle, but if you have chosen PERMCAP – the data cap is permanently removed. You can reapply this cap by texting GETCAP to 50232. If you have removed this cap and are travelling to another country soon, please reapply the cap to avoid possible high data charges while roaming in other countries.

International Calls:/texts: These are calls/texts that you make while you are in the Republic of Ireland to an international number. When contacting a number in the Ukraine, make sure that you have included the international prefix +380

Bill Pay Customers

Whether you are roaming or making international calls, we are supporting you by waiving the cost of the usage. What this means is, our partner networks will charge for the usage and we will credit this back to you and this credit will be applied to your next bill.

Let’s look at that point: your next bill depends on your billing cycle, and your usage. So, if you have made calls to Ukraine or in Ukraine between the 25th of February and the 31st  of March and your billing cycle is the 2nd of each month. Usage between the 25th and the 1st will appear on your bill in March along with credit to cover these calls. Then usage between the 2nd and 31st of March falls into the next billing cycle and these credits will appear on your bill in April.

One last thing for our Bill Pay customers, different credit limits are assigned to customer accounts depending on the product and the service that the customer has purchased from us. If you exceed the set credit limit, Three may suspend any or all of the Three Services. If you receive a text about nearing your credit limit, do your best to contact us and we will do what we can for you.

Prepay Customers

For our Prepay customers on any of our plans (legacy and current suite of plans), you need to have a credit balance to roam or make international calls/text. The credit deducted from your balance for these will be credited back on to your account on a weekly basis. It’s important to call out, that some of our plans have a “drawdown” when you top-up by the minimum required amount. Let’s have a look at our 3Prepay 20 plan as an example.

3Prepay 20 has a minimum top-up requirement of €20, so every time you top-up by €20 or more in one go, €20 is deducted for the plan. In this case, please top-up by something less than the minimum required amount, like, two €10 or €15 top-ups. The easiest way to do this is through our instant top-up facility here or via My3.

Free SIM Cards

Three Ireland has been providing free SIM cards for Ukrainian refugees arriving at the Dublin Airport reception facility so they could immediately connect with loved ones – with credit and international minutes included. For those who can’t avail at that facility, you can visit the Ukraine Support Centre, Guild Building, Cork Street, Dublin 8, D08 XH90 or click here for locations around the country.

Update: From 3rd July 2022, any Ukrainian refugees who received a free SIM card from Three will need to top-up by €20 or more every 28 days to activate their plan benefits. The 100 international call minutes to EU, UK and USA will expire on July 2nd 2022. They will still be able to call or send texts from Ireland to Ukraine free of charge until 31st August 2022.
