I live in a 5G area according to Three Mobile coverage map. I have 5G signal in my attic using a Three router MC801AHW. However the signal is only two bars and not very fast or reliable.
I have connected a Poynting 5G External antenna to the router. However the router still is only showing the same signal level as before the external antenna was connected. There is usually a way to enable the external antenna. I cant find any settings when I log into the router. Any help much appreciated.
I will do later today. I'm currently using the same external antenna on a different Three 4G modem. (which works fine in terms of improving signal) So I will have to switch back to the 5G for stats.
@Kenny_63267 I've double-checked with our networks team and we do support the frequency used by that device. Connections should be automatic (no alteration of setting required) as long as a SMA to TS9 connecter is being used.
That being said I would recommend that you reach out to Poynting to confirm if their device is compatible with the MC801AHW. I've had a look at their site and it is not listed as one of the devices it's compatible with.
I am using SMA to TS9 connector. It makes no difference to the signal or download speed when the external antenna is connected.
If the Poynting external antenna is not performing as expected I'd have to recommend reaching out to them for assistance. Having looked at their website they do have articles that may be useful click here to see one that I have found.
