5g broadband

Hi , I have got 5G broadband installed recently but I am dissapointed with the service so far. the max download speed we are getting is 80mb , however it can be below half that at times. I am on a 5g phone plan from three and I am getting much better speeds - up to 250mb download at similar times .I know that 5g speeds can vary but I had the expectation- maybe mistaken- that I would be getting similar speeds to my phone from the 5g broadband. I contacted support and was told that speeds at peak times will be lower but speeds at other times are not any better.The support person tried resetting the router but the speed actually got worse.  He said that this was the best speed I could get and it was sufficient. I was getting similar speeds from my previous supplier and only changed because of the possibility of increased speeds. If this is the best service I can get from three I will be cancelling my contract within the 14 day cooling off period as I would not have confidence in their service. Are there any other steps that three can take to improve things ? , thanks.

I'd love to help get this sorted for you, firstly are you using a self-install 5G Broadband or was this installed by a technician? If it's a self install there are some simple changes you can make like facing it towards the local mast or making sure it's located in an unobstructed area or often near a window will also help the speeds you are receiving. Depending on your distance from the modem or if there are obstructions between you and the modem this can also affect the speeds compared to your phone.

Hi Niall. This was a tech install so there is a outdoor receiver connected to a modem inside

 

Thanks @walter_44930 , as this is a tech-installed broadband I would be recommending contacting 1913 and if there is an issue with the connection the dedicated broadband team would be able to organise a technican to call out and have a look at the service.
