I tried getting an answer to this on the "customer service" chat and was just referred to information I had already given. I just want to know, what is the actual working speed of 5g Broadband Gold? I know that 5g is capable of better than 1gb but this link suggests the 25mb is more likely.

What is the actual expected speed of the system generally, assuming good coverage?
Thanks
I checked three 4g coverage at the location I'm considering installing 5g. Download rate was circa 100mbits/s last night and then 25 mbits/s this morning. Is 5g Broadband Gold as erratic as 4g is or can I expect more consistent speeds? Is there any indication what that speed might be?
@bilko Hi there 👋 The average speed to expect is indeed 25Mbps. This can vary depending on many factors including your location, distance from the mast you receive your signal from etc. 5G would be more consistent than 4G, I'd expect you to have a much smoother experience with 5G. We'd love to hear how you get on if you decide to join the 5G world, be sure to let us know how it goes 😃
Is that really 5g? Its slower than 4g. I had made an order but I think its probably a mistake if I can get potentially better speeds from FTTC. Is the 25Mbps a conservative figure?
That's not very reassuring. Its 5g Broadband Gold, so requires a unit installed on the exterior. I'd like to avoid drilling a hole through the wall and having something fixed on, then having to remove it if the speeds are 25Mbps or lower. Can you just say whether the speeds will be higher or not?
@bilko Thanks so much for sending in your Eircode by PM. I've had a chat with the team and they've taken a look and they are thinking along the same lines as me - that they'd expect your 5G experience to be much smoother and the speeds to increase also. They've also noted that as your antenna will be outdoors this will also optimise the performance. Of course we can't make any guarantees until speed tests are ran at your address.
