500mb Data Add-Ons

I just received a text message stating: 

 

From Three. We would like to let you know that the 500Mb Data Add-On will no longer be available for sale from the 3rd of May. If you have purchased before this date will only be able to use your booster for 28 days after it was purchased. If you need information about domestic or EU roaming rates associated with your account, please visit 3.ie/8ml or come into your local Three store

 

 

Is this service being entirely withdrawn or is there another plan that allows me to purchase these data bundles?

Dear Three ...

 

I don't mind that you're bringing this 500MB Add-On to an end. Well, sure ... I used it all the time and wish you were not making this decision. But ... business is business.

 

What I DO take exception to is: today is 29 April ... and this 500MB option is ALREADY gone!! Even though you told us "... from 3rd May..." someone pulled the plug a little too early. What's more is: Three will not honour their word and give us this option before it's gone!

 

I just spent 40 minutes on a call with Three in Limerick, and in the end ... I got no where.

 

So, what's the story, Three?

 

Anything else we should anticipate you reneging-on?

 

Such a shame.

I used this data add-on for years and never got a text that it was ending. I just went to buy it and noticed it was gone and found this. 

 

This is a load of crap from three!! 

Shane … perhaps what Three does not understand is: not everyone is wealthy enough to be on bill-pay or to TopUp prepay every month. As a result, we count on being able to skip a TopUp or two and then use our accumulated credit to purchase data AddOns so we can deplete our ever-increasing-credit-that-is-of-no-useful-purpose. Eventually, we knock down that credit to the point where it’s time to TopUp again. 
But now …. we cannot do this! There is NO way to use our credit … and we have NO way of affording data outside of our 28-day benefits. 
So really … not only has Three been deceitful in telling us “from 3rd May” (and then yanking this option early so we CANNOT avail from it) … but they are culling the herd so that those who cannot afford to TopUp … MUST TopUp. Those will leave Three, and you’ll be left with a product that only the wealthy can afford.

I have checked with our prepay team regarding the removal of the add-on & you are correct that it add-on should have been removed tomorrow the 3rd of May. Unfortunately, the system change was completed a little earlier than expected on the 28th of April and cannot be changed back. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

@Add_52023, @imjosh, @AllanShearer, @Stephen7, @Add_53122 - due to your experience with this add-on I'd like to see if there's anything I can do. Can I ask all of you to PM me your full name, number, address, & date of birth for the validation of your account? Once I have your details I'll check each of your accounts.

I also had this issue! I. I wanted to buy it during the weekend before the 3rd but it was gone already

Hi Shane, I also faced this issue, I was trying to send you a DM but the system tells me access denied...  Can you contact me?

@Add_10907 Hi there, apologies for any inconvenience caused but due to the add-on being removed earlier than expected it's no longer available to be added to any accounts. I have confirmed this with the other members who have contacted me via PM.

 

Ok Shane but what should I do then? Three said they would disable this today and instead they did it before the weekend, when I wanted to purchase the addon. It's not my fault your team messed up the dates, you told me by SMS that this would be disabled the 3rd of May, not before the 28th of April.

Same here, have been with three for more than a decade and used to buy 500MB add-ons when my AYCE top-up expired.

 

I'm not surprised three are doing this though, there have been so many times where I've bought the 500MB add-on, had my 15.01€ balance remaining, and then miraculously been charged for data (in some instances to the point where my full 15.01€ balance has been depleted) - and three customer service just did not want to know about it.

 

Awful customer service; they don't value their longstanding customers at all.

 

I will be taking my business elsewhere too - thanks for the tip on Tesco mobile.
