Mobile Data in the United States

Hi, I am going to travel to the United States for a couple of weeks and I was wondering if Three had plans for using mobile data while there (mostly for Google Maps and the like). I have a 3prepay plan. Any advice wouldbe very welcome. Thanks!

Hiya, thanks for reaching out. You can apply the USA roam booster for €5 for 28 days, this will give you 500MB of data to use while in the USA.

Hi Maureen,

Can you stack the boosters? I don't want to run out and not being able to buy my new booster. Can I just buy 2 GB worth of boosters in one go?

Hi there, you cannot stack the boosters as the 500MB allowance is activated to be used for 28 days. You can however add a ''Daily roaming'' bundle to your number for daily use. You can view the full details of this add on and others available here.

The link you sent is for Bill pay, not for pre pay.
I can't add those in the My3 app.

Apologies, the '' Daily roaming pass'' is not available on Prepay. You can find a full list of prepay add ons here

I'm aware of those. That doesn't really provide a solution to my problem.

Could you tell me what to do in the following scenario?
I'm in Canada and don't have WiFi nearby. The only internet is through my 500MB US/Canada booster on my phone. Now what happens if this runs out? How do I get a new one? According to you I cannot have 2 at the same time. So do I have to travel to somewhere with WiFi to buy a booster again? Seems like a crazy solution.

You'll need to keep an eye on your 500MB allowance while connected to Wi-Fi. If you're nearing the end of your data, you can then be aware of this and top up when needed. You also have the option of adding another add on via SMS. To do this, you'll need to text 5NET to 50272 once your allowance has expired.

Hi Bex,

Your answer doesn't really make sense.

1. The 5NET is only usable in EU and Ireland, how is that going to help me in Canada?

2. Could you explain why I have to keep an eye on my allowance through Wifi, why can I not do that using data roaming?

3. So can I top up before the 500 MB expires or does it need to expire first?

Hi am_17819, apologies I made a mistake with the 5Net suggestion. This is not the add on needed.

2.  You can use your data roaming, I suggested WiFi as you could check this before you leave a WiFi area. This will stop you being surprised while out and about.

3. You'll need to top up and activate this add on once your 500MB expires.
