A trivial problem I suppose,, but I've had a new phone for 3 months or so (3 SIM, same phone number and prepay plan as before), and My3 still shows my previous phone (bought in 2015, from Three's online shop). And I keep absently hitting 'Update your phone', forgetting it's a link to the Shop. I can live with it, but find it surprisingly annoying! (And guess it could be confusing, should a Rep need to access my account).
The new phone wasn't from Three (I wanted to stay with Motorola and found Three's online shop no longer does that make). I couldn't find a way of changing the phone model in My3; if there is one, could you point me to it? Thanks.
The old phone was a Moto G 3rd gen 2015, new one is Motorola Edge 20 Lite. (I can't remember the details from registering the new 3 SIM, but if there was somewhere to enter (or correct) the model name I'm sure I will have.
Hello @Chrysanth you have made a very interesting point there.
Phones bought off-network or directly from the manufacturer will not show up in My3. As you mentioned, on the one hand, it's a small thing ,but for insurance purposes, blacklisting etc it might be a different matter.
To update the IMEI of a non-Three phone to your account, you'll need to contact Three directly. You can PM us
Thanks Deborah! I've PM'd you with the IMEI.
I've just refreshed my memory re IMEI's (not being a frequent upgrader!), which was interesting. I could see how getting it registered could be important for more than just the insurance side. (I gather the blacklisting you mentioned is to secure a phone if it's lost or stolen?) I imagine it could also help trace it (I tried an IMEI checker on the way, from Intel I think, and saw an impressive amount of info about the phone, including specs, manufacture date and a clear photo).
I forgot to mention my phone was new and SIM-free.
Thanks!
Thank you for sorting that out, Deborah!
