Not able to add funds to Apple Account using Prepay Credit?

Hi,

I am using Apple Iphone.

I am on three.ie prepay.

I used to (recently) be able to add my unused top-up balance as my Apple Account funds.

As in - I top up my mobile with €20. I use whatever over the next month and I transfer reminder of that to my Apple ID.

I tried adding it today (26/08/2023) and it was unsuccessful...

What has changed? Is this no longer going to work?

Cheers.

Andrzej

Hello,

I have tried to purchase an app through mobile billing just there and it still does not work. I am more than welcome to be corrected but it is not possible to spend your credit in any way through apple. While apple may have made changes to their terms and conditions relating to apple credit top ups the 3pay service does not work with any type of purchase in my experience including app or subscription purchases and I am almost certain this is a decision of three ireland because it works fine on bill pay and in the UK where they have substantially more competition. It also works on other carriers as well so it is not a carrier wide issue.

@gtaking111 Sorry for the delay in my response I was working on getting my hands an a Three Prepay phone. I've just tested this with a Three Prepay phone and was able to download a chargeable app using 'Mobile Phone' as the payment method.

Editing this post after @WhiteHeteroGuy post about apple. I’ll contact them.

Thanks @Three_Stacey

Situation is weird...

I came back to Ireland yesterday in the morning and in the afternoon I've scheduled a call with the Apple rep.

I spoke to Ismael (fantastic guy, very enthusiastic and friendly) and explained the situation to him. He was not even aware of the possibility of adding funds from prepaid mobile account but when he understood it - it made so much sense to him... I pointed him towards this thread on 3community forum. He read it and understood the issue. He wrote a letter to the "decision makers" that the "customer is not happy about the new policy because it cuts off his payment method and funds in the same time".

That's just me. I did what I could BUT you can do more.

Write a short letter to Apple explaining how this is a bad change and send it to this address:

Apple Customer Support
Hollyhill Industrial Estate
Hollyhill
Cork
Republic of Ireland

And reference this:

Case ID:  102104594731

Not the greatest solution ever I admit but that's one of the options.

Maybe get in touch with Apple reps over e-mail and reference this case as well.

Call them and reference this case.

They changed it because they were not aware how important it is for people.

Cheers.

P.S. @Three_Stacey thanks girl. You rock. 😉👍

Thanks for your explanation @WhiteHeteroGuy .
I’ll contact Apple again.

So in that link You'll see that its dated at 10/12/2022 where there are only 7 eligibility criteria listed. There is no reference to points 5 and 11 when it goes to mobile phone billing. The next snapshot of the website is listed as 07/2023 where the change is introduced.

Hi Andrzej Thanks very much for sharing your letter and these information!

im going to do up a letter and send to them too!

Did you post it? 🙂

Got a reply from Apple via e-mail today.

Hi @Three_Stacey,

The page of benefits still shows this capability as an option.

Please, raise this internally to confirm, thanks
