Restrictions on personal hotspot and WiFi calling on hero pl

There seems to be a lot of restrictions put on the SIM cards on the three hero prepay plans.

 When I try to enable wifi calling the message “To enable WiFi calling on this account, contact 3 Ireland”

similarly when I try to setup personal hotspot I also get a message “To enable personal hotspot on this account, contact 3 Ireland”

 

None of these restrictions are on my GoMo account - it is quite frustrating when you contact customer services and they keep telling you they have enabled it on their end, and blame the handset.

@Andrew_38771 Since the care team added the WiFi calling add-on to your account can you try the following to activate it on your phone? This is one way other members of the 3Community have been able to activate it.

 

Can you turn off your WiFi, make sure your mobile data is on & try to activate the WiFi calling?  Some members have suggested that it make take a few tries to activate the WiFi calling.

@Andrew_38771 Hi Andrew, for WiFi calling, have you contacted our care team to make sure that it's enabled on your account? If you've already been in contact with our care team can I get the make & model of your phone & I'll get you the steps required to activate it. 

 

We don't support tethering. This means if you have difficulties with tethering/hotspot, we don't have any troubleshooting steps to help you!

You can certainly use your All You Can Eat data plan & use the hotspot feature. You won't be charged for this data use, well in Ireland 😄 Many members on 3Community have used their hotspot feature/are using their hotspot feature, no bothers. If there is a bother, we don't support tethering/hotspotting only mobile or broadband data.

 

Hi Shane Yes I spoke to the customer care team and I got a text to say it was enabled on my account, however when I go into settings on my iPhone and try enable wifi calling button - I keep getting the message “To enable wifi calling on this account, contact 3 Ireland”

 

the same thing happens when I try to enable the personal hotspot - while it isn’t supported, it appears it is also disabled “ I get the message to “enable personal hotspot, contact 3 Ireland” it appears the SIM card has both items disabled - iPhone 11 running iOS 16.4

is three customer service number down at the moment?

I tried to top up but it won’t let me

When I try call 0833333333 or 1913 it keeps asking me to enter my mobile number over and over again

@Andrew_38771 We're aware that some customers we're experiencing difficulties topping up via our automated system. A fix has now been put in place so if you haven't topped yet can you try now & let me know if you are still unable too? 

 

Hi Shane, I am having the exact same issue illustrated here. WiFi calling and personal hotspot seem to be disabled for my account, which is weird because I swore it was working last week. Could you enable both for me as well? 

Hi @Add_93256 I'd be happy to take a look at this for you. Is WiFi calling still showing as active in your phone settings? Also, can you let me know the make & model of your phone?

I was told, by Three, that using the Personal Hotspot on my IPhone is not possible. So I want to migrate somewhere where using my Persoanl Hotspot *is* possible because I travel a lot and need it. Can anyone advise?

I am experiencing the same issue. I want to hotspot my All You Can Eat data to share it with my personal computer but I am getting the "to enable personal hotspot on this account, contact 3 Ireland". I have contacted the 3 customer service and I was told that per contract regulation hotspot is not supported. My Wifi-calling is on and on the 3Community there are members saying that instead are using the All You Can Eat data plan and hotspot feature. So, I really do not understand and it is quite frustrating indeed.
