Has anybody noticed the speed drop on Gorey 5G? I used to consistently get over 300mb/s up to 700 mb/s at times, for download speeds. Now most of the time it's about 150 mb/s at best.
Nothing has changed as far as I can see with regards to new buildings going up. Anybody else in Gorey noticing slower speeds or just me? I've tried my SIM in a couple of devices
Hi there @Christopher_56168 thanks for reaching out to us here on 3Community. I'd love to look into this for you I'll just need a little more info from you to get started. When did you first notice the speed reduction? Does the speed increase outside of Gorey? I see that you said you tried different devices have you replaced your SIM recently?
Hi sorry for the delay. I have tried my phone outside Gorey and get varying speeds faster some places and slower others. Somebody else called over and they are also on three and they get similar speeds to me. It's not any faster than 4G really on the download.
When i get 5G first it was generally 300-700 Mbs download depending on time of day. I had a look at the mast changes and coudln't spot anytihng, if anything an additional 3600Mhz mast was added to the area. When i force it to connect to band n78 it doesn't get any faster so reception on that band must not be good. It's normally connected to bands n1 or n3 which I beleive are the slower 5G bands.Looking at speed test history the last decent one seems to have been 400 mb/s in November but i didn't do one for a couple of months after that so not sure exactly what changed. No buildings have gone up around me or anything.
Hey @Christopher_56168 , thanks for the update. I have checked the masts in the Gorey area and there isn't any outages with the masts in the area. As your phone is connected to a radio based signals there can be multiple factors that can affect the speeds you are receiving and this would explain why your speeds are varying.
Thanks for checking, just disappointing that it's not better than 4G for me, and less than half of what I had been getting for 2.5 years previously
Just to update here that i'm now connecting to band 78 automatically and the speeds are back to what it used to be. I had to force band 78 previously and the signal wasn't very strong so it was slower speeds than the band 3 it was normally going to. So something has been fixed at the mast or some sort of interferance has gone.
