I haven't used a smart watch/fitness tracker in a long time, so when I got the opportunity to try the SoundPeats Watch1 I was interested to see how much they have progressed.
The Soundpeats Watch 1 comes in a compact box where inside you get the watch, a magnetic charging cable (approx 62cm long) and an instruction book.
Setup was easy with the QR code, i installed the SoundPeats Sports App ( Play Store Link SOUNDPEATS SPORTS on the App Store)
Once you download the app and power up the watch you just need to create a Soundpeats account and pair the watch via bluetooth with your phone, the watch supports Bluetooth version 5.0.
The Soundpeats Sports app is very nicely presented and on its Home Screen you can see current weather, Target Step Count, Distance covered today and a history of your heart rate and your sleep record. You can click each of the above sections to get more of a breakdown of your stats.
The next screen is the Sports screen, where you can select the type of exercise that you will be doing. 12 modes are supported ( jogging/ fast walking/ biking/ climbing/ spinning/ yoga/ indoor running/ integrated training/ gymnastics/ basketball/ football/ rowing) and also the Motion Setting. It will use your smartphone's GPS
Next is the Device Screen where you can configure how the watch behaves, so you can configure if the screen turns on when you raise your hand . You can check for Firmware updates here. Notifications can be configured for the call reminder when a call comes up on the watch screen you only have the option to see who's calling you and reject the call.
Examples of phone call and SMS, the Font could be improved. Also you cannot interact with the notifications i.e. you cant reply to the SMS.
There is an option for how long the screen turns on for but it only applies for when you're looking at the time, not for the other menus.
You can select notifications for some apps in the main App Reminder Screen, but to add more apps you will have to go into the next menu and select them, it's a pity the list is not in alphabetical order as it would be quicker to find apps.
Option to give you reminders to exercise/move during the day.
In the Final Menu Screen you can configure your login information and how the app works with your phone and define your target step count.
The watch feels very well constructed with the metal bezel and metal button the strap itself is a nice matte plastic , the screen is a nice 1.4 inch size with a resolution of 320*320 .The metal Button feels solid.
I usually don't like wearing watches when I'm sleeping as they are too bulky but I didn't find the Soundpeats Watch1 bulky or uncomfortable while sleeping.
Overall dimensions are 41.1*35.4*11.7mm and it only weighs 54g.
Straps are easily removable so you can get different ones and you could change them yourself.
Adjustable wristband: 20mm wide, 155mm to 235mm (perimeter) and is approx 250mm approx.
On the rear of the watch is the heart rate sensor and the magnetic charging port.
I had no problems charging the watch, it takes approx 2 hours to fully charge its 260mAH battery, my usage is about 13% daily so I get about a week between charges.
I like the little notch on the strap keeper as it makes the end of the strap stay in place better.
I did need to increase the screen brightness to be more readable outside.
It's rated IP68, so I tried it out by wearing it in the shower and and in a swimming pool I had to did disable the setting “Raise hand to activate display” to stop the screen turning on in the water otherwise moving your hand would turn on the screen and the water would have an effect similar to you swiping the screen.
The Button unlocks or when the screen is on you can swipe, overall the watch was very responsive.
Swiping up give you Menus <Statistics , BPM, Sport, Weather, Sleep, Notice, Music Setting, More -->
In Music Setting, you can control the music of your phone but track names are not displayed on the watch.
In More
In More there is a Stopwatch, Timer , Find Phone, and Breathe training
In Settings ,there are options for Brightness, About And Power off.
Option to select watch face, only 4 are available.
More watch faces would have been nice, or being able to create one on the app that would transfer to the watch.
Swipe down on the main screen Shortcut to Do Not Disturb, Find Phone, Brightness and Settings.
Swipe left brings you back to previous menu
While on Main Screen, you can swipe left or right and the below options are presented
Step counter/distance/kcal , Heatrate , Sleep info , Weather, Take a break.
If you swipe left, options are presented the other way around.
You can select how long to take a break for and you are shown a breathing exercise to follow for the duration of the break.
