Hi there,
I’m looking to see what my options are with my three contract once I move away in September 2025.
Ideally I’d like to keep my phone number and contact but I don’t think there are any plans I can switch to that will be similar or as cost-effective in Sweden as my current plan is here in Ireland.
I believe I can pay off the remainder of my contract and then switch to prepay and top up every 6 months to keep the number active, but does this last payment include both the phone and plan bill or just the plan bill?
If there are any other options, please let me know!
Thank you for your time
Hey @Ryan_31455 , Welcome to the 3Community 🙂
You have a few options that you can go with while in Sweden. As its part of the EU you can use your allowances while there the same as if you were in Ireland. The only difference is you will be using your EU data roaming allowance while abroad so I'd recommend checking that on your My3 account so you don't go over and get out of bundle charges for data.
If you are in contract when you go to Sweden, you can continue to use your phone and pay off the bills as normal and then when your contract is up contact us to move you to prepay. This would save you having to cancel the account and paying an early termination fee which is going to be calculated as the remaining time left on your contract. When you make that move to prepay you would need to top up every 6 months and make a chargeable call to keep the number active.
If you would prefer to pay off the contact and move to Prepay before you go over this is still an option, you would contact care to make the switch to prepay for you and the early termination fee would be applied to the last bill and that would be charged at the remaining time left on the contract. The last payment would be the remainder of the contract but there wouldn't be any extra charge for the phone etc, you would just need to make sure that it is unlocked if you are using a Sweden SIM in the phone,
We'd never discuss personal information about an account over a public post so this is why this response would be so general but if there's any questions on the above, you can post a comment or pop me a DM with your details.
