My number being used to ring as missed call

Hi

Has any0ne else been getting calls from very normal people saying they had a missed call from my number. I rang 3 a few weeks ago they said they were sorting as its a scam using my number so just don't answer if not a contact which is stupid I think. Every day its happening what are 3 doing probably nothing

We are aware of an ongoing scam at the moment whereby fraudsters are sending a high volume of scam calls into Ireland from international destinations. 

The fraudsters are masking the originating number and using randomly generated numbers with Irish prefixes to trick others into answering these calls.

Numbers from all network prefixes including landline numbers have been spoofed in this scam. Sometimes these randomly generated numbers match those of real mobile or landline numbers in Ireland and result in calls or missed calls looking like they have come from a genuine phone. 

Unfortunately, if your number has been used in call spoofing the only thing we can do is to send the number to the relevant team but I can assure you that your number is safe and no one else could use your actual number attached to your Three account.

Thanks for getting back to me. I understand what you are saying but it's
happening 4 or 5 times a week and no one else ive asked has had it happened
even once. This is going on a few months on and off and i find myself
apologising to people because its not me aaaargh so frustrating

This has has unfortunately started happening to me, this week two calls so far from genuine people that I never called.

With my IT background I knew exactly what was going on and thankfully the people who have called have been understanding when I explain to them my number has been "spoofed".

Hoping this gets sorted soon.

Oh is that what it's called thanks and yes I do hope it gets sorted out
