Roaming Call Issues While Staying in China – Account & Roaming Add-on Enquiries

I am a Prepay customer  and am currently residing in China. I have several urgent enquiries regarding my roaming voice service:

  1. Whenever my contacts based in Ireland (using local Irish mobile networks) dial my Irish mobile number, they hear the voice prompt: “The person you are trying to reach is not currently accepting a call”. Please advise what actions I need to take to receive incoming calls normally while roaming in China.
  2. My tariff is Three Prepay Super Surfer. Is there a minimum required account balance to keep incoming roaming calls functional overseas?
  3. I see the standard rate for receiving calls while roaming in China is €2.02 per minute. Are there any roaming add-ons or daily passes that cover inbound calls to avoid this expensive per-minute rate? I have checked the recurring 100 international minutes bundle, but I understand it only applies to outgoing international calls made from Ireland and does not cover incoming calls when I am roaming in China.
  4. Please provide a full breakdown of charges for both parties when an Irish contact calls my Irish mobile number while I am roaming in China:
    • Charges applicable to the caller based in Ireland
    • Charges I will incur as the call recipient in China, without any roaming voice add-ons active

Thank you for your support. I look forward to your detailed response as soon as possible.

Best regard

Hey @rown_80605 thanks for posting here and I'll answer your questions below.

If you have coverage while you are in China but you are unable to receive calls this maybe because you don't have enough credit on your balance to receive the call. On the Three Prepay Super Surfer Plan receiving calls costs €2.02 per minute so this would be the minimum you would need in your balance to receive the calls as there would be no allowances for China on that plan. There isn't a specific minimum amount you would need to have roaming calls functional however you would need enough credit on your balance depending on your location of there is a chare.

If you are looking to receive calls while in China another option is to purchase a roaming add on and ask the caller to ring you via data via a messaging app of your choosing as this would use data rather than credit per minute

Charges for receiving a call would be €2.02 per minute while in China and you can view all charges while in China by entering your number and location into our handy Roaming Rates Guide here. The charges for calls from Ireland would be dependent on the users, network, and plan so I wouldn't be able to answer this for you however they would be able to check with their network and if their network is Three Ireland they can check the link provided.
