Dialling direct into a VM box

If I was to dial into a VM box using the digit 5 after 08x, would they be able to see that i dialled in and didn’t leave a message or would it too late anyway, and my number could be made known. 

I guess they defiantly would, if I left a message, as options are to return call and the voice calls out the number when you dial into VM.

If you dial directly into voicemail by adding a 5 after the prefix the person will be notified that you called even if you don't record a message.
