The broadband service in Ballydehob has been really bad since end of last week.
Router showing all three lights but only getting between 7 and 20 mbps whereas it's normally 100 to 120.
What is the problem?
Hi there @BallyRog are you still experiencing slow speeds? I've had a look at Ballydehob and we don't have any sites down in the area. Have you noticed have the speeds reduced throughout the day or just at specific times?
Please let me know what device you're using and if you've tried any of the troubleshooting steps called out in our blog All About: Broadband Coverage?
Thanks for your reply.
The problem was worse between 10.00 and 16.00. It has been ok today.
There are a lot of tourists/visitors in the area now - does this affect
bandwidth or something? Apologies I'm not very techy!
Regards,
Roger

Thanks for getting back to me. Many factors can affect speeds, and congestion on the network is one of them. If you pop through to us on PM with your name, number, full address (including eir code) and date of birth we can take a more detailed look at the coverage in the area and run through some troubleshooting steps.

Hey @BallyRog if you are looking to speak to us here about your account please send us your details via PM rather than posting them publically here and I have removed the personal information in the above post.
Hi BallyRog,
Just adding to this post. I live just outside Ballydehob and have notice a drastic deterioration in the 3 network in the last few months. I have contact 3 about this. My last conversation with 3 on this was 2 weeks ago. I was told they were working on the local mast and the earliest service would resume would be approx 48 hours. I asked was it planned works and I was told no, it was a fault. I have less than 1mb download speed on 5g network, no upload speed, the 4g network give me nothing so I have resorted to using the 3g network on the phone for connectivity. I was told it was the not the contention rate but there does seem to be a correlation between the amount of people increasing in the area for the summer months and the timing of this problem. I have been with 3 for over a decade and I'm about ready to change now. I'd like to see some action from 3, mainly be forthright in telling us what the exact issue with the mast is, and if no problem exists then why the drastic deterioration in service. I know over 15 people in the area affected by this issue and will make they aware of any reply by 3 on this. Regards.
Hi WestCorkBetty
I was told that a "degradation" to the service was noted and mast repairs made 18/8. My broadband improved miraculously the following week when the huge number of visitors to the area started to leave - 3 cannot provide an adequate service to the area during the summer months.
Regards
Thanks BallyRog for your reply. I am using my phone as a hotspot, I can hardly make a whatsapp call or watch stream a low quality video. My neighbour is the same. There is something up with the 4g network for sure. It's is barely operating today.Any response Three??
Hey @WestCorkBetty Welcome to the 3Community 🙂
I'd be happy to help you here, I have checked the masts in the general Ballydehob area and I can see that they are all currently up and running. However, I can understand your frustration with this and we'd love opportunity to investigate this further for you. I would recommend anyone who is facing this issue to contact customer care directly who will be able to raise this with our technical team to have this investigated further.
Pop through to me here on PM along with your full name, mobile number, address and date of birth and I can get this passed to the technical team for you.
