Strict NAT 3 - APN Causing Speed Drop

Really hoping someone can help me out with this.

 

I recently got a 3 Mobile Broadband sim (4G) for gaming at home. I tried to play some games on my Nintendo Switch, and was getting NAT traversal errors (NAT 3). I got in touch with support, who helped me set up a new APN that changed it to NAT 2. The issue is, this caused my speeds to drop from >20mpbs to 500kbps. Got back in touch, and their only solution was to switch back to factory defaults, essentially saying that I can't play games. I ended up phoning them, and they got me to switch back to the default APN and removed some age restriction settings in the backend. Unfortunately, this didn't work.

 

Is there any way to get NAT 2 without my speeds being completely knocked? I could barely even run a speed test. 

 

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey @Add_93691, I'd love to have a look into your query for you, pop through to me here on PM along with your full name, broadband number, address and date of birth so I can check the account for you.

I've been contacting customer support for 7 months and keep getting the same agent who just hand-waves me away. My speeds die after a mere 2gb of downloads and the APN change he made has all but bricked my internet. I can't play Call of Duty even due to the strictness of my NAT type despite it being NAT 2. The same agent told me and others that we'd likely have to pay a fee to get out of our contracts but honestly at this stage I really believe I'd have a case for refunding the past 5 months through the commission for communications regulation since there are so many people with the same issue now.

We cancelled. Moved over to SKY. So happy to have working internet now. We spent the guts of a year dealing with really horrible customer service and none of the games we bought for PC or PS5 working.
