Zte mc7010 dropping connection

Hi recently got the 5g broadband with expert installation.i have my zte outdoor unit left on my garage table pointing away from the tower and i am getting about 300 down and 90 up.i have tried installing the unit outside on the and my roof but as soon as the unit is outside where it actually recieves better signal it keeps dropping the connection within few minutes and then it fails to reconnect to the Internet so im pulling my hair out.i had the outdoor unit left on the window sill in a room for 2 days with about 80 down and 15 up and it never lost connectivity so its very strange that when the unit is outside and recieves way better signal it keeps disconnecting

@Add_17629 Hi there, can you confirm if the outdoor unit was installed when it first arrived by our installation team? The reason I'm asking is that the installation team would have tested to find the optimal spot for your service. If you're having trouble with your service I would suggest contacting our dedicated team on 1800 800 002.

Hi Shane the unit was left on the garage table cause the speedtests where returning great speeds and i also requested it to be left there as i wanted it to be installed on the roof for better signal.i have now installed the unit right outside the garage window but it keeps switching from 5g to 4g+ and then to 4g and then back to 5g and so on.my signal intensity is 71 db and signal quality 23 db when its on 5g so their more than excellent stats but yet it keeps switching between 5g and 4g.i have been in contact with your tech support and they might send out an engineer to see whats going on with it

Hi @Add_17629 I  have reached out to our technical team on your behalf. I can confirm that they are looking into your difficulties and would like to speak to you directly if possible. If you're willing to speak with them please PM me your contact details and I will pass them on 👌

Hi after engineers visit last Thursday the drop out continue. The engineer took the old outdoor unit away for testing and left a new unit that doing exactly the same thing with dropping the connection and requiring a restart that can only been done by physically disconnecting it from a power source.Lady that got the engineer out isnt responding to my emails and after ringing your customer care to cancel this nightmare i was informed that i would need to pay 800 hundred euros early termination fee as i am in FAIR 5g coverage area.constant drop outs are clearly acceptable by Three.where do we go from here?can Three representatives on here help me out to cancel my services or do need to lodge a complaint with commreg?

Hi @Add_17629 I have reached out to our tech-installed broadband team on your behalf. They have reached out to you via email to confirm the next steps.  Let me know if you have any questions.

I have been having the same issue and after some troubleshooting I think I can see where the problem is with these devices. You are correct that it will drop from 5G to 4G to 4G+ and back around again in a loop. It's because the device is trying to connect to 3 bands on 4G to aggregate them (one of them being Band 3 as used for the 5G connection) and this causes the 5G n3 connection to drop. It's an issue with the firmware on these devices and would need to be fixed by Three directly from what I can see. Mine was working perfectly for the last month or so and then suddenly it's having this issue.

Bands B1,B3,B28 are all 4g bands and one of them is your upload band.Band n3 is your 5g band.as this is NSA 5G it is combined with 4g together. What Three actually does at my mast is they only turn on all bands after 9pm most days and they turn it of by the the time i get up in the morning.log into your modem tonite and see for yourself that most likely after 9 you will get way better speeds than during daytime.i have a huawei router and it is the same with this router so the band manipulations happen at a carrier level and has nothing to do with which device you are using.my zte unit though would drop the connection and would fail to reconnect only restarting the unit would get it back online.i have had one unit replaced and the other one is doing exactly the same thing.Three has indeed stuffed up the zte firmware and on top of it they are limiting your speed for most part of they which is actually illegal under eu regulations.i have itin writing from one of the engineers that i can cancel without early termination fee but to actually get cancelled i need to contact customer care and dealing with them is very difficult but hopefully i will get this cancelled by next week.this 5g upgrade has left a very bad taste in my mouth and under no circumstances would i use three for my broadband or mobile services

Ok so you're in a rural/suburban area I presume also? as the 15Mhz band 3 (1800Mhz) is reframed for 5G use as n3 in Rural areas along with a separate 20Mhz band 3 (1800Mhz) for 4G. n78 is for denser urban areas. I can see all the same bands as you and I have a separate B535 router running on 4G+ in the exact same location with zero issues, which is funny since it is aggregating all 3 bands without any problem so it's most definitely not a signal issue. To me it looks like some devices, including this MC7010 possibly due to the firmware, has an issue when aggregating band 3 on the 4G connection along with band 3 on the 5G connection as it causes the 5G connection to drop. If you actually look at the network stats just before it drops the 5G connection you'll see that it aggregates band 3 on 4G and then the 5G SINR goes negative quickly.

I hope you get the contract side of it sorted anyway, I'm not too happy with this device myself and will be in touch with CC on it also.

It is definitely a firmware issue on a uk forum it is well discussed and some people have succeeded on flashing the firmware on it with either stock Chinese firmware or with firmware from Finland or Poland.after firmware upgrade there is no more drop outs.i will have to stick with three as i tried vodafone and speeds go from 260 to 20 in the evenings where with three it never really drops below 150.i am using eirs cpe 5g pro 3 without an issue i picked it up for 100 euros.huawei never drops out and is always connected to 5g and 4g without a hiccup.after 9 pm i get more 300 when all bands turned for the rest of the i still get 150-200 so it will have to do till we get fibre in 2024
