5G Broadband - Disappointed so far. Can you help ?

Hi,

We used to be on 4G with 3 for years and was very happy with what we were getting. Constant speed, reliable, and nice enough speed.

we got a 5G router installed on Tuesday - and so far it is a huge disappointment. The installer was very competent, tested the reception of the ZTE MC7010 - and was happy that we were in an area where the reception was good. ( he mentioned we needed over 100 to go with the install, and measured 180 - not sure what he was measuring exactly )

He used our old SIM in the new router.

Speed test : so far, during the day, the max we are getting is 40Mbps download, but it's very up and down. right now i am getting 30 down, 15 up - while i am getting 40 on my phone on 4G.

In the evening - we are getting much much worse where we see 3, 4, 5 mpbs download speed !

Honestly, I was expecting much better, right now this is a downgrade from our 4G connection.

We have contacted the support Thursday evening - this was escalated but no one came back to us yet.

is it a Sim card issue - does it need to be change ? is our account allow for 5G or are we stuck on 4G ?

Please help.

so the three supplied units firmware is stuffed.also i have noticed that three likes to turn of link aggregation during the day so my speed drops to about 200 during the day but i can live with that

I see that this thread is marked solved, but is the issue for the OP solved? I ask because I'm having all of the same issues as the OP now. I had the external antennae installed on the 5G gold package last week. It seemed to pick up 5G for the first 24 hours, but since then it's on 4G only (not even 4G+), so I'm only seeing download speeds of 10MB/s. I'll try the technical support number later this morning, but it seems Three have rolled out a product that simply isn't doing what they promised it would.

Hi Ciaran no this issue hasnt been solved for me i dont know about the OP.I dont think 3 has a new firmware for the unit.i have bought second hand huawei pro 3 and at least this router doesnt have drop outs.i have observed that 3 actually turn on more download bands at around 9pm during weekdays and at arount 6pm during weekends and by the morning those bands are turned of again.this happens on both my zte outdoor unit and huawei router too.when all bands are on i get 300 download when its turned of i get around 160.im about to email them today to cancel my connection as im an paying premium price for throttled service

Hi Ciaran,

the issue wasn't solved.

another technician came to the house last week and he couldn't solve it. The tech was very good in fairness, tried a lot of things, like locking the MC7010 to 5G - no luck. We are going to send back the router to three.

So that's it - it's not going to work for us. I have re-installed my old Huawei 4G modem router on Saturday - the 4G connection has been rock solid since.
