Hi,
I am using Apple Iphone.
I am on three.ie prepay.
I used to (recently) be able to add my unused top-up balance as my Apple Account funds.
As in - I top up my mobile with €20. I use whatever over the next month and I transfer reminder of that to my Apple ID.
I tried adding it today (26/08/2023) and it was unsuccessful...
What has changed? Is this no longer going to work?
Cheers.
Andrzej
I will also move to another network if this isn't fixed soon. And I will be expecting my expired credit to be recredited to my account when this issue is fixed.
Hi @gtaking111 as you probably read both our 3Pay team and Apple are currently investigating this. As soon as they have an update I'll post it here.
We understand Stacey and we appreciate your help.
What we don't appreciate is the fact that 3PAY team was trying to quietly bamboozle us like that and that they are taking their sweet time to reply to you. In the next few days I am to pay for my iCloud and my Apple Music and my Disney+ subscriptions. My Apple funds are at 2 cents. IF I fail to add it within next 2 or 3 days - its gonna take the funds from my bank account. I will be extremely not happy and I will switch to another network. I will not care if CEO if Three is going to update us on the matter. I will be gone with the wind.
Regards.
Andrzej
Hi @Three_Stacey ,
I have just checked the thread and I am facing the same issue since last month. I was able to buy myself an Apple Gift Card and kind of sorted the problem by doing that.
I have contacted Apple and we were more than 1h over the phone troubleshooting and in the end they said that this is a problem with the mobile company. They said that the response they are getting from Three is that is not allowing them to charge.
Today I tried to buy a new Apple Gift Card and then the same problem happened. So now not only I cannot buy Apple Credits but also can’t buy a gift card.
Is there any way this could be prioritised with the 3Pay team?
Thanks
Thanks for letting me know this @jack32rj I've passed this along to our 3Pay team. I can assure you that this is a priority for our 3Pay team, they are working closely with Apple to identify the exact cause, and once they have that they'll be able to put a resolution in place for us.
Hi there,
Me and my husband are experiencing the same issue since end of July - only found out that time, it was fine before and we are both on 3 prepay.
Been onto Apple numerous times to try and fixed it and Apple confirms it's not likely to be a problem their end. Contact 3 again today and they think the problem is with Apple.
Anyway I'm happy to find out that we are not alone! Peers please update on this page once any changes applies to you!
Hi Stacey,
How are you?
Any update please? I have been following this and i have the same issue.
Please advise us how long this will take as Andrzej highlighted this a month ago.
Thanks lots
Brian
Hi @Sticks_Brianb welcome to 3Community.

I've just gotten an update and it has been confirmed that the option to use your phone credit to top up your Apple Account has been removed. I know this is not what you wanted to hear but it was a business decision on the Apple side.
Wow it only took them a month to cough that out? Ok, great.. @Three_Stacey
So... What network are we all switching to? I am away for business, will be back in ROI in 2 days and will have a look at the alternatives.

Do we know what network its still working on for pre-pay?
Also - I do not believe it was Apple's decision. Spoke to Apple reps. They denied it.
1) Myself (and others) in this thread spoke to Apple reps before coming to this forum. In all cases the answer was the same. Its not us. Its Your mobile provider.
2) Why would Apple care where our Apple funds are coming from as long as we are spending them with Apple?
3) When I was trying to report the issue using Three app chat (before starting this thread) - Three rep tried to tell me "It never worked on prepay" and basically blew me off... He all but called me a liar. After I showed him a proof of money being transferred to iCloud a conversation timed out.
Old good Polish proverb says "If you don't know what's going on, it's about money."
Three would rather keep Your top-up balance and let it "expire" (into their pockets) then let it be used as Apple funds. I used to be very happy with three. Used to being the keywords. I should be toping up my account next week - not going to happen.
Its a three decision. Its a bad decision. They will lose customers.
Cheers.
