Not able to add funds to Apple Account using Prepay Credit?

Hi,

I am using Apple Iphone.

I am on three.ie prepay.

I used to (recently) be able to add my unused top-up balance as my Apple Account funds.

As in - I top up my mobile with €20. I use whatever over the next month and I transfer reminder of that to my Apple ID.

I tried adding it today (26/08/2023) and it was unsuccessful...

What has changed? Is this no longer going to work?

Cheers.

Andrzej

Hi @Three_Stacey ,

Thank you for the update.

Could you provide apple response in the matter?

Could you kindly provide more factual details? What version of IOS was this functionality removed? So I can check the developer release note of this functionality as it was a business decision.

I am looking forward to your response. Thank you!

Sorry I don't get it... You guys promotes heavily 3Pay, and marketing all the benefits 3Pay has and we could benefit from, being 3 customers..

And now this is just being stopped with no prior consultation with customers, no prior consent or even property notification?!

I think for the plan and functionality to be upgraded we don't need to be consulted/consent to but if we are disadvantaged..clearly we have a say to that no????

And I'd appreciate if Stacy/3 can respond back to  @WhiteHeteroGuy  Andrzej and @Add_46785 there with their legitimate quaries.

Hi - it was not removed in iOS version update. I own several older iPhones with different iOS versions (not the latest ones) - it does not work with any of them anymore (and I can confirm that it used to work just fine in the past).

It was basically blocked off by three on their side and when iOS is trying to add funds it receives "no payment method" error which was confirmed by Apple support as well.

I am betting if I had a bill pay three sim like @Three_Stacey the same procedure would work flawlessly on the older iPhones and the latest iOS 17.0.1 as well. This tells me one thing @Add_46785 - it has nothing to do with Apple blocking the feature off. Its three.

Looking forward to hearing from @Three_Stacey maybe the 3pay support team can get a signed letter from Tim Apple himself and prove us all wrong.

Saying this - I know its not @Three_Stacey fault. She is not the one ot blame. She is just a messenger. Don't give her grief. I am just not very happy with three right now. They made bad decision without telling us, I called them out and then they waited for a month to admit it but also BS blame Apple in the process. When I am back in Ireland I will try and get back to Apple support and ask them for a "official statement" on the matter.

Cheers.

Hi,

Besides all the disappointing situations, the bill pay three is not working to be used on Apple as well.

I received the feedback that the reason for this was from Apple, and again, doesn't make any sense.

Very disappointed with Three for not providing honest answers for their clients, and removing a good benefit like that, to keep to them our top-up not used.

Hi Stacey,

Thanks very much for replying and giving us the update.

Can you let me know what i am able to do with my three credit?

Thank you very much and appreciate your help in sorting this out

Cheers

Brian

Hi everyone, the 3Pay as a service is still available, you are still able to use your credit to purchase apps from the App Store. However, Apple confirmed for us today that they have made changes to the products they offer DCB (Direct Carrier Billing) which means they no longer offer DCB as a payment option for Apple account top ups.

I know this is disappointing, it's not what I was hoping for either.

Disappointing is an understatement of the century...

Cheers.

Hi @Three_Stacey ,

According to apple website there is no change in Mobile Phone Billing on their end from Ireland. I have contacted apple support directly and they have confirmed the same. Can you provide more factual details that apple provided you with?

Hey @Add_46785, the information in the above link would be correct as you will be able to use your 3Pay credit or make a direct to bill charge to buy apps from the App Store, use Apple subscriptions such as iCloud+ and Apple Music, or buy other media from Apple, as described in the link by Apple however this does not include topping up your Apple account balance.

Oh snap... Did You read the points 5 and 11...?

5   Mobile billing is only available with supported network providers. This list is subject to change. Find out more about network provider billing

11     This payment method can’t be used to add funds to an Apple Account balance.

Is 11 new? They punishing EU for forcing them to USB-C the iPhone? 😁

Cheers.
