rcs messaging costs

hello

how much do rcs messages cost on prepay hero? i understood they worked like facetime or whatsapp, in that they operate over mobile data.

if im using rcs to non irish mobile, are you charging me?

Hey @JeffNobody thanks for posting here.

You're correct. Similar to a Whatsapp or Facetime, RCS messages are sent while using Mobile Data or Wi-Fi so you wouldn't be charged like you would for an SMS.

can you confirm that rcs messages should also be "free" while roaming? (subject to data / wifi)

Hey @JeffNobody that's correct so RCS messages would be sent over data rather than the standard SMS. I would recommend checking that you are on Wi-Fi or if you have active roaming allowances while abroad as you could still be charged for RCS via mobile date if you were using out of bundle data.
