Vodafone Ireland have recently started issuing ESims in ROI. I think Three should follow suit soon, handsets such as iPhone only allow dual sim using one of these
Got talking to an engineer within Three Ireland, they mentioned that it has not been discussed as of yet. Which means it's a good bit off yet. 18 to 24 months at the nearest.
I’m just hoping the reason for the long wait is because they’re launching esim and Apple Watch cellular together 🤞🏻🙏🏻
it’s so damn annoying to be so far behind America and other countries on this. I wanna be able to use all my Apple Watch features. So many times I have forgotten my phone and needed to call/text someone. I’m moving to Vodafone when I can upgrade to the 15. At least they have esim and hopefully Apple Watch data compatible soon.

I was talking with our business account manager at Three and he says that they know its close to launching but have not been given a difinate date. Which I know is what we've been told already.
Health Warning to anyone thinking of jumping ship! Check coverage of 4G/5G in your area. Vodafone is switching off 3G (Cork due tomorrow). Whilst eSim is very useful, it’s not as important as reliable network.
It really is baffling that Three are behind, but just like WiFi Calling, it makes sense to wait. If iPhone 15 does arrive as eSim only, it’s not the end of the world.
I doubt if anything’s going to happen before the Apple event? I’d imagine if anything’s planned it’ll be afterwards. Especially if they have advertising for the iPhone in the ready along with eSim launch. Makes sense to me anyhow.
If eSim functionality’s all tested and signed off, it could be just waiting to be published live. The guts of the work will already be done and primed.
Just need a little more patience.
