ESIM Rollout

Hi

Vodafone Ireland have recently started issuing ESims in ROI.  I think Three should follow suit soon, handsets such as iPhone only allow dual sim using one of these

The reality is we are a small country and operators were always slow to roll out new features due to the cost.

Ireland hasn't been an early adapter for developments in mobile/broadband technology even though we have/had lots of the multinationals that create it based here.

So that's an interesting point I think

Yeah, it is frustrating that a lot of these companies are based here, but we don’t have their tech here.

On a side note, has anyone noticed that if you reply to the thread via email, the address starts off o2ie. Those were the days!

So many comments from everyone...that's great.

I can't believe visual voicemail still isn't available...wow. Is google voice available over there? If it is, you can get that and you will get text messages and emails of transcribed voicemails. Having said that, since I upgraded to iOS17, it rest my email and now instead of it going through google voice Im seeing it on my phone and seeing the new realtime dictation as the email is being left.

Agree that it must be really frustrating for a lot of features not to be available when a lot of the companies in question have bases in Ireland.

So our new iPhone 15 Pro Maxes are being delivered tomorrow morning...I'll check back here and the three website before I start the ball rolling on the move to Vodafone. At least the 8hr time diff between my home and Ireland will give a chance for any news to break over there regarding eSim on launch day, lol.

Fingers crossed, but not sitting with baited breath...!

iPhone launched.
eSIM not launched.
Disappointed.
Not surprised.

I want to second my deep disappointment. As others have said, it’s not as if the wheel needed to be reinvented with eSIM.

I truly cannot believe such a simple feature still has not been launched. Three has had more than enough time to get their systems sorted.

My number transfers to Vodafone’s €30 unlimited eSIM plan at the end of this week. Not sure I’ll consider moving back to Three any time soon since they’ve shown a horrible inability to provide consumers with the basics.
