Vodafone Ireland have recently started issuing ESims in ROI. I think Three should follow suit soon, handsets such as iPhone only allow dual sim using one of these
Reports in August 2021 here and here explained that Three had just signed an agreement with Amdocs for both Three UK and Three Ireland, which included eSIM functionality. I'm also a customer of Three UK, who plausibly told me this week that I can't get eSIM until my line is migrated to "the new Amdocs system"; it seems that my line will be one of the last tranches to be migrated in around one month's time.
Will Three Ireland have a similar dependency on migration of lines to a new Amdocs system for eSIM to become available? If so, does Three Ireland likewise plan to migrate customers in tranches, perhaps starting with new connections and finishing with prepaid customers last?
Your post just shows me that Three let it slide for a long time and didn't prioritize the matter or take it seriously. Now they get the receipt and, as is so often the case, the main ones are the customers!
For me this is a minor failure of management, but that's not the point alone.
It's about how management leaves its customers uninformed without being specific.
All we get here are apologies and slogans to persevere!
For me this is an absolute failure of communication!
Apparently we seem to be lucky that there is even a platform where you can get more or less useful/useless information.
I had a look on the site. Couldn’t see anything about Apple Watch etc, but hopefully this is just a “soft launch” and full functionality will be announced asap.
Just called Three as I could see nothing on the website. I was told that esims are live from today. I requested it and was told that I will be receiving an email shortly with the activation link for my Apple Watch. 😊
@Dalk I was too excited and forgot to ask the price. I am hoping it is free to start like vodafone and about €5 after promotional period. I will update when I get setup.
I’m on hold with them at the moment… I’m hoping it’s just because it’s only being launched today, but it’s not looking good for Apple Watch support…. Was told it’s not launched for Apple Watch and no idea when it will.
also, was told for existing customers we need to go into a 3 store for a eSIM for our phones, while next customers can obtain them over the phone….
