Vodafone Ireland have recently started issuing ESims in ROI. I think Three should follow suit soon, handsets such as iPhone only allow dual sim using one of these
I likewise can't receive SMS. I first noticed this because I couldn't activate iMessage, for which iPhones send and receive hidden SMS from Apple's servers. I've also tried generating SMS verification codes from web sites, and I don't receive them. Unlike for other people here, this isn't causing me an immediate problem, but it does need to be addressed.
When I was unable to use SMS, 2FAs were not working for most of the time. Of course critical ones always failed. If it hadn’t been sorted for, I really would be in a dire situation.
@Three_Niall got me sorted very quickly, much more on the ball than the poor chap in customer care on the phone. A “network refresh” sorted my issue.
Still though, this issue appears to be wide spread and with a lot of people rarely using SMS nowadays, I’d imagine it’s actually more common than we think. It would be the one time you’d need SMS that you’d realise it was broken. I only knew to check it from the posts on here.
Hey Everyone and Happy Friday, hopefully I can answer all of your questions here from the past few hours. 🙂
@CiaranM you are correct customers can avail of up to 2 free replacement physical SIM cards or eSIMs in a year and after that, each new SIM costs €15.24, ex. VAT as described
@Dalk after the 3rd SIM replacement, including eSIM, the charge will automatically applied but I understand that you were testing the above on the day of the launch so please send me a PM like earlier in the week and I can get this sorted for you.
@NFH@frozengeek I have checked here and I can see you should now be able to send in a DM and we can get the numbers refreshed and get them, back up and running. We are aware that some customers maybe unable to send and receive texts so this is why we have a temporary measure in place to fix the problems individually by contacting us here or on 1913 but I can assure you we are working on a permanent fix in the near future.
I switched to eSIM on Thursday afternoon. Although I couldn’t receive SMS, everything else was working fine, particularly data roaming on 3 UK (5G) and O2 UK (3G). But since Friday at around 2pm, I have no service on any UK network and today no service on any French network. I reported it by phone and online chat to Three, who twice did a network refresh, but I still have no service. This is really disruptive while travelling. Any ideas?
