Vodafone Ireland have recently started issuing ESims in ROI. I think Three should follow suit soon, handsets such as iPhone only allow dual sim using one of these
@NFH hey, thanks for letting me know. Maybe it's an issue on my account that I'm not receiving roaming pricing sms. @Three_Niall maybe you can check this out for me? My previous post explains in much more detail. @NFH Did you receive it when you activated it for the first time in London if you can remember? Also I have just tried manually selecting and yes it works. It looks like I can connect to all 4 networks. I can't try EE as there's no signal from them in my area at the moment but vodafone UK, O2-UK and 3 UK all work. I also attached a pic below of the Vodafone UK
@Rhys_88046 I've checked my SMS history, and I did indeed receive a roaming SMS when I activated my first eSIM while in London on 12th October 2023.
On the subject of available roaming networks in the UK, I created a separate thread, which is currently inconclusive. Your own experience in Northern Ireland is interesting. Please feel free to add to the separate thread.
Thank you very much for letting me know that! Possibly @Three_Niall or @Three_Stacey can look into why I'm not receiving the roaming sms notification? (I'm pretty sure this is also a regulation that networks have to follow according to Comreg so I'd like this rectified at your earliest convenience, please. 🙂

But yes, @NFH on the subject of available roaming networks in the UK I can definitely say I can manually connect to all 4 UK networks. I read your thread and found it odd you can only connect to 3 UK and O2-UK. Maybe it is something to do with when you joined Three? I'm a very old customer, maybe it has something to do with that. I hope one of the 3 staff can help you out there. Odd
Hey @Rhys_88046, I have checked this here for you and you should have received a text message advising you that you are roaming however I'd love to check the account further to confirm if a message was sent to the phone, can you pop through to me here on PM along with the mobile number you are using, your full name, address and date of birth so I can check the account further.
Hi @Three_Niall i got the message today when i made a phone call which was weird because i have been here for 24 hours now. I was in touch with the social media team but to be honest im not sure what was done and id like for you to check the account further. How do i send you a pm? I dont see the option.
If you were previously connected to Wifi, on the device, you may not have connected to the network until you went to make the call as the SMS would only have appeared when you connected to the network however I'd be happy to check when the SMS was sent to you. You can pop me a PM by selecting the envelope Icon on the Home Screen of the 3Community.
@Three_Niall hi niall, no I was definitely on the network sending and receiving sms messages to and from family and friends. I also received a phone call last night and was chatting away for about 20 mins. I also did use a little amount of data, it was only until I made an outbound call to somebody then I got the sms notification. What I also found strange is that I got a text telling me my port had completed an entire day after it actually completed. I was already using the service on my phone number that I switched for an entire day when I got the message telling me it was completed. Also it seems I can't message you, this is my home page, on desktop view also.
