Mobile broadband West Cork.

The broadband service in Ballydehob has been really bad since end of last week.

Router showing all three lights but only getting between 7 and 20 mbps whereas it's normally 100 to 120.

What is the problem?

I'm been through all that with three already, both by phone and online support.

Download speeds a bit better than earlier today, in the same spot and weather conditions. I want to know why upload speeds are so poor across the board. What causes this. Is it the contention rate or is there an issue the technicians are unaware of. I was receiving 5g and 4g for months with no issues. I have replaced everything, sim, phone etc. Other three users in my house have the same issue with mobile data reception. If this is the contention rate as the area is busy, I would like to know what the contention rate is and what customer packages are on lower contention rates. I would prefer to keep this discussion in a public forum rather than pm.

Thanks for the above @WestCorkBetty , the reason that I wanted to invite you into PM was so I could gather some personal information such as your Eircode and account details to investigate this further for you as we wouldn't take these details on a public post.

 

Is this just happening specifically in one location such as inside a house or anywhere you go in the general area? Looking at the screenshots I can see you have a H+ connection in all three screenshots, is this normally at H+ or does it change when you leave this location?

Thanks for the reply. I'm 2 km directly north of Ballydehob. When I'm at home, I have to choose 3g network to get Internet access. I change to autoselect network when I leave house and have 5g/4g/3g enabled on phone. Today's download speed is much better, (strange since the weather and air pressure is the same, and im in the esame palce!) but I will monitor it over the next 7 days and post updates here. I will post screenshots below of 3g,4g and 5g speed tests today Can you lease tell me why there is a poor upload speed across 3g/4g and 5g?

That would be great @WestCorkBetty, over the next 7 days if you continue to have difficulties with your service the screenshots and details will be a great help with the investigation. 

 

Internet speeds for this evening. 5g was better in the afternoon but 4g is basically non existent for me so I'm.resorting to 3g with poor upload speeds again. Considering the time, is this a contention ratio issue for 3? I will consider to post speeds for this week.

5G but considering i live on the edge of 5g coverage then this indoor speed is to be expected mostly.

All tests done indoor, the same area as yesterday, weather is fine and high pressure.

Again, 3G better than 4G. Upload speeds poor. Testing in the same location, weather very clear and high pressure. My issue is that these speeds were much better pre July and service has deteriorated since then in my opinion, especially the upload speeds.post again tomorrow.

From tomorrow onwards I will post early daytime speeds and evening speeds here.

I would like to know the contention ratios of and differences between the plans you offer. This info would be appreciated. Is this is the same for each plan and the mast is showing all normal then surely it must be eithe the amount of people online leading to the degradation of this service since June ir the works that were carried out on the mast as per the original post in this thread were not sufficient to restore the service to its pre-July levels..  If this is found to be the reason, how does 3 plan to rectify this as I amongst others are paying for a service which is not delivering as it was before.
