ESIM Rollout

Hi

Vodafone Ireland have recently started issuing ESims in ROI.  I think Three should follow suit soon, handsets such as iPhone only allow dual sim using one of these

When did you first notice you couldn’t send or receive MMS?

Same problem for me. Unable to send or receive SMS. MMS seems to be fine for me. Pixel 7 Pro on Android 14.

No issues sending/receiving SMS here.
eSIM on iPhone 11.

Now if it makes any difference I ported back in this week once eSIMs became available so maybe the issue is for SIM-eSIM migrations? Did you all try removing the physical SIM from your phone and restarting in case that is tripping anything up?

@Kildare_P Sim extracted, iPhone SE 2022 Restarted and also Reset. eSIM reinstalled also. I can receive but not Send SMS. As I already said, it’s probably just incorrect “Message Centre number” being used.

I can receive from other Three numbers, but not other networks….

I can also receive 2FA codes etc.

I can’t send to any network.

I am able to turn off and back on iMessage, which I believe requires sending a text in the background.

I went into a three store and got a physical sim,  but the problem remains.

I rang customer care. The agent as polite but useless.

This is serious now. I’m also only receiving SMS from Three network and not others. Can’t send to any network. Not sure about 2FA but if not I’ll be in real trouble.

I tested it with Aer Lingus and it worked.  And the nice but useless phone agent sent me a message from “3 Care”. And it worked.

As I said, swapping back to a physical sim hasn’t fixed the issue.

Someone else on Three, who didn’t migrate to eSIM can send and receive SMS with no issues, so it’s 100% an eSIM issue.

From the Apple website:

If you set up a new eSIM or insert a new SIM card into your iPhone or iPad, you may need to download the network provider settings for your new network provider.

To see the version of network provider settings installed on your device, tap Settings > General > About and look next to Network Provider. To see additional network provider information, tap the version number. To verify that you have the latest network provider settings installed, contact your network provider.
